I am changing my diet. Atkins was great for me in some ways, but in others it is not the best. My doctor and I sat down and discussed my food and eating habits and he suggested that I try calorie counting for a while and see if I have success with that. I am still maintaining some of the really good eating habits created by Atkins (eg no sugar or processed refined foods). But, I other than that I am not restricting anything. It is more about moderation.

291.0 lb Lost so far: 2.0 lb.    Still to go: 91.0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Kate I think that is the smartest decision you could make from my point of view. I did Atkins...twice...and there lies the problem...It wasnt a "diet" I could live on for the rest of my life so I gained back everything I lost and then some. I have committed to changing my lifestyle and making better choices because that I can live with...If I want the cheesecake I will eat it, count it and move on...That slip up would spell disaster on Atkins.

Yes. It is the slip ups that were killing me. I am grateful to Atkins for helping me to lose the first 30 pounds and for helping me to see that I just can't eat sugar and refined foods and feel good. But, the calorie counting is going really well! Your cheesecake example is perfect! That is exactly what was going on with me. There was too much pressure about food and what I can and cannot have.
