It seems that I have done nothing but traveled back and forth between about 3 lbs. I finally came to accept the fact that I'm going to have to be more proactive and start recording my daily food intake, if I want to start losing again. I really dislike having to record what I eat as it takes time to sit down and do it. However, what I've been doing hasn't been working, and for WHATEVER reason...I've been having creativity issues in the food department. I just can't seem to think of anything that sounds good when it's time to prepare my/our meals. I think it's because all the food I buy is fresh, whole, non-packaged type foods. I've run out of ideas on how to prepare meals that don't require a lot of time. I did see a couple of 'lickity split' cookbooks on Amazon that I might get. One is for quick healthy meals and the other is for diabetics. I have the original 'lickity split' cookbook and did enjoy using it. I quit using it because it wasn't designed for someone with insulin resistance.
At any rate, I need to change things up and get some new motivation. 2008 was a big FLOP where weight loss was concerned. I need motivation and am not sure why I don't have it. I did just get an order from Vitacost with liquid supplements. I'm hoping that will help. I have noticed a big improvement in the way I feel since taking supplements. However, it's possible that I am the kind of person that just needs the weekly support of a physical meeting, such as weight watchers. Maybe I'll look into that again. I wish they had a program designed for diabetics. I'm not diabetic but need to eat as if I were.
Next week is the last week of my first course towards getting my degree. YAY! So far, I've been getting excellent grades!

I know that journaling your food daily and keeping track has been proven to be an excellent tool for helping with weight loss. It also helps you to look and see what happened the weeks you gained and what happened the weeks you lost. I have never heard of "lickity split" but to me the easiest and healthiest meals are the simple ones... I pan grill some chicken breasts or salmon and then serve with fresh veggies that are steamed in the microwave with seasonings added... sometimes oven roasted veggies and sweet potato wedges... easy! Seems easy is "easier" to stick with over time. Like you I hate when dinner is a big fuss. It's good to find what works for you.

I like the steamed frozen veggies, canned fat free pinto beans, Uncle Ben's brown/wild rice in a pouch (90 seconds), turkey chili, grilled or baked meats, crock pot recipes, sweet potatoes in the microwave, etc. Some of our smart FS members do a lot of cooking on the weekends and put the food in the freezer for later. I finally did that this weekend with the cabbage soup. Janelleas gave me a good idea to cook some ground beef/turkey or chicken and put it in individual bags to add to my soup. I've done much better this week than I have in a long time because I sat down and planned the week out before I went to the grocery store. Makes all the difference! Keeping a food journal is definitely a good idea. I'm lazy with that these days. I used to be diligent and was successful as a result.

Keep it comin' friend! You'll find a niche that will work out for ya. Agreed, that easy is so helpful and important, but creativity is a must to avoid getting "old", too. Hang in there sista, we'll have a better "losing" year, coming up, I know it! :) xoxo

I'm with you... after working all day, trying to make something healthy for the family that doesn't take too long is so hard. My sister does a lot of slow cooker stuff-- I don't know that many recipes for slow cookers :) Be sure to let us know if you come up with some good ideas. If the meetings help, I think you should definitely look into it again. I am going to get back to going to mine (famous last words!) Have a good day!!
