What the flip???? I am trying to NOT get discouraged but this is proving to be more and more difficult every day. Last time (2+ yrs ago), this was so easy! I lost a half pound every day or two. I couldn't wait to get up in the morning and step on the scale. That is so NOT the case this time. The only difference is that I am two years older. Does it really make that big a difference?! Is it because in the last 2 yrs I crossed the 4-0 threshold?? I heard it starts downhill after 40 but this is ridiculous! I swear that I am eating the same as before (still not enough veggies and water) and my exercise is about the same so what the heck?

On Saturday I went to a Relay for Life event. I didn't eat the pizza or go near the woman selling cupcakes. I turned down the popcorn and fruit snacks and cake. Yet the next morning the scale was up a lb and a half!! I went to a family dinner last night (Sunday) and actually stayed on plan again!! No homemade lemon or red velvet cake, no baked beans, no potato salad, etc. If I had known I was going to gain yet another lb this morning, I might have indulged. I guess I am glad I didn't but still.....

I just needed to vent. I guess I feel a little better but honestly all I want right now is a king-sized Milky Way! What warped thinking I have. (I am SO glad we don't have a snack machine in my office!)
181.5 lb Lost so far: 11.5 lb.    Still to go: 36.5 lb.    Diet followed 100%.

I totally feel your pain. It is hard to not get discouraged when things that worked before just aren't working the same way. I'm in the same boat. But good for you sticking to your plan and not having snacks or going overboard at the family dinner! You can do it!

Don't let that scale mess with your head!! Yes, after 40 is different I don't care what anyone says, but, weighing every day has it's up and downs (haha). Do not worry. The scale WILL catch up. Mine does, everytime, I just need to remember to be patient and do what I'm supposed to do. I record EVERY weight first thing in the morning. I don't care WHAT it says. Up 3 down .1 it gets recorded. I have not veered off plan one gram and it looks like a yo-yo. I really got excited when I realized I was half way the other day... LOL.. I got so sidetracked with the day to day numbers I forgot to pay attention to the overall! Give yourself a HUGE pat on the back and an "atta-girl" cause you KNOW you deserve it. It's evident that you know HOW to do this, so just sit back and wait it out! The numbers will fall.

Thanks, Gina. I do tend to "forget" the days when all the sudden I am down 3!

OMG Michelle, you sound exactly like what I was going through last week. FRUSTRATING as Hell! But, listen to the others, you didn't cave to all those mouth watering goodies (i can't type them, mouth watering too much)and you should be proud of yourself! I am about to turn 42 in a few weeks and am having the same problem. I even went so far as to march into my nurse practitioners office and demand some labs because I went thought a relocation and new job and gained 20lbs in 3 months!!! There was surely something wrong with me... NOPE, nada, labs fine. I guess my dear that this is post 40. I feel like a drink now...but 1) I am at work and 2)too many damn carbs! hang in there :) Brenda

Brenda we are definitely in the same boat. I will 42 in a couple of months too. Between October and January of this year, I also gained 20 lbs! It is beyond frustrating!
