Good morning!

Did well, yesterday.

I reached my 2675 calories, and I did not overeat.

It's a fine balance, but I can tell that I am getting better at it.

The result? Well, I didn't gain a lot of weight from all the food in my body. Actually, I am down 400 grams, which suits me just fine.

It's been pretty consistent the last few days, Low Cal Day or regular day. I take this as a reasonably good sign.

Yesterday I ended up having 500 calories left and I spent them on unsalted nuts. They were delish, and I ended up very close to goal.

...

I upped the weight on several machines at the gym again!

I now do crunches at level 16 of 18.

It's funny, I can really feel how my abs are getting A LOT stronger than they have been. I'm amazed.

...

So, today is cake day at work. I really haven't had the urge for sweets much - nothing that I haven't been able to push away - and I'm counting on it being the same today. I have "scheduled" a protein bar and some fruit for the cake break - this should take care of any trouble.

...

So, what else is new?

It's a pretty boring day today. It's cloudy outside, and I'm just here writing a little, and trying to plan my meals, which I am reading my emails and double checking that the reservations for plane and hotel in Paris next month are in order.

Wait, what?

PARIS!

Wife and I are gonna go spend a long weekend (4 nights) in Paris next month! THat's right! I'm so excited (not nowhere near as excisted as wife because she is going absolutely crazy!) that we get to go!

Woooohooooo!

We went in October last year, and we loved it. Wife has spent many summers in Paris when she was young, and absolutely loved the place.

I felt that I needed to do something for her, so I have booked plane tickets and hotel.

It's gonna be a nice, nice little vacation. Away from it all.

When we went last October, we found this HUGE market right around the corner from our hotel. It was so much fun, but we didn't get to really explore it - we simply didn't have the time.

This time, we have booked the hotel that is literally next door to it, and it will be the main focus.

I assume that we won't need to go check that the Eiffel Tower looks about the same as in October, right? :)

...

I have a potential new client for my weight loss class. This is an interesting challenge. The girl suffers from Crohn's disease, and tells me that she essentially is allergic to vegetables.

Have any of you buddies experience with this? I'd love to help this girl out.

She's a big girl, and would definitely benefit from a good weight loss.

I'm generally assuming that the same rules apply. If you burn more calories than you take it, then you lose weight. Of course, since her digestive system is somewhat shot because of illness and surgery, then she needs to be extra aware of nutrients. I'm thinking that I need to have a one-on-one talk with her too, to find out what she can do, what she is already doing, and what she can definitely NOT do.

If any of you have ANY experience, first hand or other, then I'd really like to hear from you.

...

Today, I'm thankful for:
- A great night's sleep.
- Most of my calories for the day schedules, so I know what I'm doing - and I still need to spend another 600 of them. On what, I wonder? NO - not the cake. LOL. Maybe more nuts tonight.
- Great morning coffee.

Happy Thursday! Life is good!

My friend who died last November was mis-diagnosed with Crohn's disease more than once. There's plenty about it on the Internet but one sure thing is that it is notoriously difficult to diagnose correctly. Good luck with you new client, and tread very carefully - despite all your experience you're neither a dietician nor a nutririonist and her condition is strongly linked to diet.

I would never bring her out to any risk, Karen, and my very first step will definitely be to ask her to consult her doctor and a dietician. :) Don't doubt it.

um yay to Paris - and what exact veggies is she alergic to? what in the veggies? i have a good friend who has a HUGE alergy list... She has Celiac disease which is oats barly wheat rye, as well as rice, ALL peppers, tomato, citric acid, peaches, anyway- she eats very healthy and is very fit. My point is it can be done just will take some work and creative planning. Maybe lots of protien shakes?

I am SURE it can be done. I think that when she talks allergies to veggies, she most likely have tried some, had bad reactions, and then chosen to not continue exploring. I also know that she doesn't eat all too healthy, and that she loves cola. I'm sure these are bad things. She's gonna need some convincing, and I'm glad I have a nurse in my class who is more than willing to help out. :)

Interesting case. I wonder if she uses the disease as a crutch to eat unhealthy foods and not try new things.

Jessa, I'm thinking along the same lines. No matter, if she wants to live a (reasonably) uncomplicated life, then she needs to get this worked out. And I am sure that'll promote a weight loss without her trying hard, other than eating what she is supposed to eat.

Good luck...you will find out soon if she realy "wants" to get healthier. She might be needing some tough love and harsh straight talk. Hopefully, she really wants it and won't argue too much. :-)

I have a sister with a form of ovarian cancer who is treating her symptoms (chemo-related) with nutrition. Because of this, she does NOT suffer from all the nausea and discomfort associated with the treatments. She feels good, and still looks great, too! She's grown her hair back, still short, but it works on her, but when she was here for a visit last month, she had plenty of energy to keep up with me and my 2 girls. I guess what I'm saying is, it CAN be done. I'm thinking Sarah has the right idea--protein shakes. Perhaps a doctor or nutritionist should be involved on this one, however, for her own benefit. Good luck!

The trip sounds wonderful Keld. My daughter has Crohns. She has to be very careful about what she eats. Looks like you are doing very well with your weight journey. KUDOS!!!

You can never go to Paris too often, but you can over do it with Eiffel, once again you are wise.

LOL, Cthulhu, I have no intention of visiting the Eiffel Tower. I think once is enough. It's impressive, sure, but it doesn't change a whole lot from time to time, I imagine. :)

Trying your 600 calorie day, OMG I don't know how you do it. I am on 759 at the moment. For breakfast I had, 1 egg scrambled, 1 slice ham (26 kcal one) and a sliced tomato. For lunch I had a bowl of salad leaves and sliced tomato, with home made coleslaw (shredded cabbage, carrot and onion with lighter than light mayo) and a can of tuna in spring water. When I came home from aqua fit I had a snack a jack, with light cottage cheese. For dinner I have just eaten a small pork loin chop (no fat), with veg (broccoli, Carrot, red pepper, mushrooms, onion mixed with soy sauce and ginger). Plus I have had a cup of coffee and 4 cups of tea (with semi skimmed milk)..... How do you keep your calories that low?

Pam - I use weight loss magic. :D Actually, I am not able to do one Tuesday, and I hate to "owe" one, so I am doing one tomorrow. It's already planned: Breakfast: 300g of veggie/tomato soup (81 cals) - Late morning: 1 apple (about 52 cals) - Lunch: More veggie/tomato soup (81 cals) - afternoon: apple - Dinner: 125g of salmon (222 cals) and 150g of green beans (39 cals) - Evening: apple (52 cals). Total is 578. I have 22 more to go if I feel like "splurging". It takes quite some getting used to, and a little while to find out what works and how to do it. There is no way to get protein levels sufficient and all that, but I always feel GREAT on the day I do it. I'm actually looking forward to tomorrow.
