Amarok's Journal, 14 September 2008

Wow! I haven't been here in ages - not since I've moved. After moving out of my parent's house and regaining complete control of what I eat and how I cook it has made it easy to get rid of the weight that I gained back. I've gone quasi-vegetarian. I'm still eating a small amount of meat when I feel so inclined, but for the most part I'm not bothering. Ooooh.. Its actually snowing big flakes outside - I might need to run outside with my Camera. THe other big help in the north is that junk food is not subsidized for shipping so its crazy expensive.

I'm loving teaching and living in the north - even with snowflakes and subzero temperatures in September and I'm making a concious effort to get my fruits and veggies even if they are expensive.

The one thing I've let slip is exercise. I'm getting some as a result of walking every and some as a result of having a stand up job, but I need to do more cardio and weight training. The good news is that there are several machines at the school and that there are lots of other people here interested in sports and cross country ski season starts in about a month :D.

Anywho.. I'm off to check up on everyone whose journals I haven't read in over a month.

Congrats on making it to your goal! It's amazing what a change of scenery can do to our weight loss efforts (both good AND bad!). It's great to see you are thriving in your new environment. How far north are you to have snow in September? Great incentive to skip the junk food with cost being so prohibitive. I'm sure you will continue to rock the fitness and healthy living. Great job!

Wow a new adventure! And expensive junk food what a great idea!!! Junk food should be taxed like cigs. Don't tell anyone.....I can't wait for big beautiful Snow flakes. Glad you are well.
