Almost 11 weeks pregnant with baby number 4. Hadn't gained any weight for the past 5 weeks, suddenly gained 2.5 lbs in the past 4 days, thinking I need to be a bit more careful about how much I'm eating. I know I am going to gain weight, I would just really like to not gain to much. I have been eating pretty horribly, whatever I can stomach which of course seeks to be strong full of carbs, hoping this morning sickness ends soon so i can get back to a good diet. Stopped exercising beginning of this pregnancy too, my excise has been just feeling altogether awful, but I think its time to start sucking it up and get moving, I think it might help me feel better in a way, my body is starting to feel weak. I am determined to make it through thus pregnancy in a healthy way so I don't have so much work when its over!

Is it normal to not gain weight when you're pregnant? What does the doctor say?

I know my OBGYN who is revered in my city, cautioned me in my first pregnancy. I said to her I don't want to gain too much. I already weigh too much. She said "You do not deal with weight when pregnant. You have this baby first and then we'll talk about that. You want a healthy baby". However I found I didn't gain too much 20-25 lbs each time and both babies were almost ten pounds. I think the key is don't think about how much your eating or look at your weight too carefully cause you do want a healthy baby. Just focus on eating the right foods. Lots of fruit and veggies and not so much junk food. I always ate healthier when I knew what i ate was feeding my baby. So I say ignore the scale, it can't tell you your baby is healthy and just feed him/her well.

Dairy king, I absolutely plan on gaining weight, and unless your way over weight you want to gain about 25 - 35 lbs, I gained a good bit more when pregnant with my other 3. I really don't plan on dieting, but I had started to eat horribly because those were the only foods that I was able to eat while suffering through morning sickness. Now I'm back to healthy eating, which is better for baby anyways. I am hoping to keep weight gain around 30 lbs, just by eating right. I've started exercising again too, found some great prenatal workouts. I've always had great pregnancies but have always eaten the best, or exercised so I'm really just hoping to keep this pregnancy healthy.

Ooh and the no weight gain in the beginning is normal your really not supposed to gain much if anything that first trimester, it picks up in the second and third. I've now gained about 10 which is in the higher side of normal for how far along I am.
