So... I guesstimated my weight a few weeks ago, and... yeah... had a bit of a shock when I finally got up the nerve to step on the scale for the first time in about a year. I thought I'd be at 150, maybe 160 at the worst. Unfortunately not... apparently I'm at 180. I was so shocked that at first I thought the scale must be broken. After all, it's just a rinky dink walmart special, probably 10 years old, and in storage for at least a year. Makes sense, right? So I went to wal-mart to get a new one today, and stepped on a few there, and lo and behold, my rinky dink walmart scale is apparently still getting it right. So, I got that sinking feeling in my stomach, I'm a bit overwhelmed by the task ahead, but I'm trying to be positive.

Here's the thing, though. I'm still finding it so hard to believe! I mean, I'm wearing a size 8 dress today-- how can I be 5'0" and 180 lbs?? Now, granted, there are very few size 8s that fit me right now. I have a pair of size 10 jeans that are, admittedly, pretty tight. But I can generally wear a 12 or 14 at the worst right now. I thought at 180 lbs I'd be up at an 18-20 or something! I guess I thought I'd have more warning, just by the clothes sizes that I was wearing.

I have tried to get rid of my first weigh in estimate that was so far off, so that it doesn't look like i gained 30 lbs in 2 weeks, but can't find a way to remove it... if anyone knows how, please let me know.

Now that I'm realizing what a daunting task is before me, I think I'm realizing that I need the community of this site, not just the calorie counting tools.
