FullaBella's Journal, 06 December 2012

Recording this - I will now approach my little SunBeam Bathroom scale with a glare of contempt dare it even attempt to move backwards.

I am planning to go away this weekend and this will be my first 'field trip' since this healthy eating began 8/25 so it's time to utilize all that golden advice I've dispensed to others about 'enjoy the trip, mindful eating, all things in moderation.' My plan is to try to sleep some, relax, sit by the pool (in sweater and jeans of course) maybe some shopping, some spa treatments and check out the exercise room to see what if anything I'm capable of doing now.

I realize that sounds odd in this era of Nike and Just Do It but my body can only handle so much. However, recognizing it's the little things that count I must note a few more quiet changes:

*I can now wear a regular bath towel instead of a bath sheet
*I stood in a line at a store yesterday and was comfortable without the need to lean over on the cart and constantly alternate my feet as I had to in the past
*I dropped a pen while driving and once I pulled over to a safe stop I was able to bend down and pick the pen up off the floorboard instead of having to step out of the car to bend over to get it
*Twice I tried to get out of the car without unhooking the seatbelt (okay, that just reads idiotic regardless of weight but in the past it choked me so badly it was the first thing unbuckled before I even turned off the engine ~ now it's obviously loose enough to be an afterthought.)

One day, one bite at a time.

Thank you for reading.

I love your journal today. I can hear the pain and frustration in your list of changes. I am so very happy for you. I was in the same situation not long ago and I too, think it's so important to recognize the little things all along the road to becoming healthy. It sounds like you have put some thought into how to travel and stay on track with your eating plan. I hope everything works out. I laughed at the seatbelt comment. I hardly ever do that but when I do, there's always someone in the car with me, figures. :)

Thank you Erin but I'm not frustrated - I'm really proud of those little things. They indicate I'm just one bite, one step closer to my goal weight. Baxie - I've never been able to post a link in a comment either - it looks right on preview but then edits. The part that does display took me to: Sorry, shoppers! macys.com is temporarily closed for scheduled site improvements as we work to bring you a better shopping experience.... so maybe the whole site is down for now. Thank you though - I will check back again soon!

I *love* this post. I have been in this position soooo many times. I agree with teskandar... victories are victories no matter the size.

Oddly, though the link looks incomplete, when I copied and pasted just what is showing here, it worked...so, maybe you're right about the site itself being down. I wonder if I send it to you by PM...can't hurt to try, right? :-)

Yes, KK, it really does feel great. I was thinking last night I should add this list and the one I posted the day after Thanksgiving to my bio ~ it life, it is the little things that make the biggest difference and they deserve recognition. Thank you Ruth, I am hopping on my chair right now (mentally) and staring at the clock worse than a kid on the verge of spring break!
