seaside16's Journal, 15 October 2012

I did a lot of thinking this weekend. My birthday is coming up, and the last 2 of them I told myself this time next year I'll be in the best shape of my life...so here I am another year gone, and still over weight. This time around I want it to be different. I don't want to feel disappointed in myself this time next year.
A few things I realized. I can not cheat...maybe some people can get away with a slice of pizza, or a piece of cake at a party, or have a cheat day...I just can't. I don't have the self control.
I have to start measuring out my food, and recording it everyday. If I don't I find that I sneak in bites of food here and there. If I write my food down I tend to really watch what I eat.
I have to exercise everyday...I noticed if I get a good workout in I watch what I eat as well.
So here's to another year! :)

Logging is KEY - everything...then you can learn what you can live without. The first to go for me was my coffee creamer. I just started drinking it black again and I got a couple hundred calories to put into something more filling - healthy protein. I was reading all the other journals and getting ideas...each week I changed something for the better. So far so good. We are all in this together - 24/7 so keep coming back and you will make your goal. It is time consuming but you are worth it and so are your kids!

This is your year! You can do it. I'm like you I have a hard time with my self control. If we have pizza I have a hard time just sticking to one slice, before I know it I've had 4 slices and I'm mad at myself. Maybe someday once the portions are more in control and the will power is stronger you will be able to have a small cheat here and there. You are making strides by knowing what you need to change and how to do it, so if you keep going I'm sure this time next year you'll see a new you.

Thanks neptunebch! I'm sure one day I can give in and have a cheat day, but I know for now I have to be strict...which kind of drives me crazy thinking about it! :)
