Densible's Journal, 16 May 2008

I weigh the same. Not surprised. Had pizza this week and pasta and bread and the old bag of skittles left over from Halloween that has been stashed in the basement for 7 months. Have not been to the gym at all. Did walk 2 or 3 days and did calisthenics (the dreaded lunges, pushups, etc ) 2-3x.

So many have expressed frustration at giving in to temptation, lack of motivation etc. I hear ya! For me, the trigger is ANXIETY. I use food for "affect regulation" as they say in the biz. Some people use drugs, others alcohol, for me it's carby, sugary foods. It's all to do with the insulin/cotisol/serotonin/dopamine levels. Our bodies strive for homeostasis and unfortunately it can be a challenge, especially if homeostasis has been knocked off line by trauma or chronic anxiety. It's not hopeless though. Just takes retraining using new coping mechanisms, like exercise, meditation, breathing , guided visualization, etc. Whatever works that has 0 grams. In my seminar this week we learned how orgasms function as affect regulators...now I just have to replace sugar with SUGAR!

Oh we here at FS have had the discussion about sex being good exercise.. some folks called it "dancing" on their exercise journal *LOL* There was even an old movie with Dick Van Dyke about a town that stopped smoking and sex was replacing smoking for a lot of the town folk. Obviously there is something to that. You seem to have the facts about different ways to handle anxiety, I am sure you will work it all out. You're a smart lady, you'll think of something... and when you do, please share with me. I do not suffer from anxiety as much anymore but there are times, and thats is absolutely when I head for the bad food choices too! Your chart is still looking awesome and you're losing weight at a steady pace, so that is GREAT!!! REALLY GREAT for a hypothyroid too! You must be pleased with yourself.

Well, at least you didn't go backwards when you cheated. Let's both get back to our plans and reach that 150 mark together. :)
