Lucybell33's Journal, 03 April 2008

When I said yesterday that the weight had better get moving again, I didn't mean in this direction! However, I have been as good as gold, so I know this can't possibly be a real gain. I'm expecting to see a BIG drop in the next day or two, preferably in time for Saturday's ATW weigh-in!

Yesterday was a high cal day (1,575), making it fairly easy to stick to. We made the most delicious veggie curry for dinner - got the texture of the sweet potato and carrot just right!

I did my planned Shape Up and Salsacise DVD yesterday lunchtime. It's great now that I'm becoming more familiar with the routine, because I can put more into it. Once this horrid exam is out of the way (11 days a counting), I'll try to step up the exercise even more, especially on high cal days.

Oh the ups and downs! I was up almost a pound 2 days ago and now things are down again to a new low so it will surely be the same routine for you. I love this site because we can see from everyone else that this massive fluctuation pattern is completely NORMAL!!! Forgive me for not having followed your journal before the challenge (I love the challenges for making new, fantastic buddies!) but may I ask what you are studying? Best of luck with your exams, anyway! Awesome job rocking the Salsacise!

Let's just say snap... as I was 152lbs this morning too! I'm patiently waiting for Aunt Flo to go packing, as she's playing havoc with the scales at the moment. Talk about hanging onto the edge of our seats waiting for something to happen though... but hopefully the scales will be kind to us in time for Saturday. We deserve it, so just keep up the great work there and you have a fantastic day. :o)

Evelyn - thank you, you're absolutely right about the benefits of being able to see everyone else see's the same kind of illogical fluctuations! And I completely agree about the wonderful added bonus of taking part in these challenges - that of finding great new buddies!! As for the exam, whilst I call myself an actuary, and indeed work and get paid as such, I do actually have one final exam to qualify as a full Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries, as opposed to a mere Associate. What with getting married and then having Finlay, I'd kind of thought I wouldn't bother, until my boss made me an offer I couldn't refuse (full financial support and two days off a week to study), so here I am. You see he's keen to share out some of his responsibilities and get his succession planning box checked - and I need that final piece of paper to take on the regulatory role of Appointed Actuary of one of our offshore companies that he's keen for me to have. So there you have it!

Sue - well, that's some comfort to me, although I don't have that excuse! It's so great having you as my buddy - you certainly help keep me on the straight and narrow, because I don't want to get left behind in the race to 133lbs!! I'm sure we'll both see a big drop soon! :)

Sounds like a good day to me! Thanks so much for your supportive comments today. It felt so good to get all of that off my chest (pun not intended) and to see that it hit a common nerve amony fs-ers and I am not alone in this.

Aw, Leanne... I definitely won't leave you behind as we're going to win this race to 133lbs together!!! It's fantastic to have you as a buddy too as likewise you help me to be good too. Both of us are like pacemakers... as when you're out in front it gives me the inspiration to try harder and I'm sure is the the same for you too. We've got this uncanny habit of landing up at about the same weight haven't we, which is quite funny... but good because it helps with the motivation to keep going. But just look at what we've achieved since starting this - I still have to pinch myself when I see 10 stone something and no doubt you do too... but woohoo, we've made it. I think the big thing has got to be committing and keeping up all the wonderful exercise that we've been doing! Hopefully our efforts will show for Saturday... as we really, really do deserve it!! :o)
