Made some low carb chili over the weekend. The worst thing in it was the tomato paste! Who knew tomato paste had 30g of carbs in a tiny 6 ounce can?!

Prior week's average weight was 196.25 and this past week's average weight was 194.5, a total loss for the week of 1.75 for the week. That number will likely go down to 1.0 this coming week because I had a new low that could have been hydration-related, so I don't want to get too excited, but as long as my average is about 1 pound a week, I'm thrilled!

My goal is to get to 187 by Halloween. That's 7 pounds in 6 weeks. I think at 1.25 pounds a week, it's totally doable! I made a pact with a friend yesterday: no candy on Halloween this year. Not one piece. Who's with me??? I almost want to make it a one week challenge on here. Should I?
194.5 lb Lost so far: 85.5 lb.    Still to go: 45.5 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

no worries, Mrsmole - remember that fruits and veggies are all (or almost all) carbs, so that's coming straight from the tomatoes, not fillers, etc. Your body will LOVE those carbs!!

and the challenge would KILL me - I LOVE Reese's cups and try to limit my chocolate intake to only Halloween - but I'd give it a try! Could you make it Monday through Sunday to get me all the way through the weekend? (oh dear!!)

Tomato paste yes is a killer, I love tomatoes but try to limit them as they are full of sugar...it's funny the things we like are the one's that harm us...lol

CR, the low carb chili simply avoids any corn starch or slurry as a thickening agent, and no brown sugar or honey added to the spices. Mainly: ground beef, no onions (I add them raw afterwards), garlic (gotta measure it, though, because garlic adds up in the carb dept), chili powder, allspice, cumin, onion powder, garlic powder, Kosher salt, black pepper and cinnamon. Used low sodium beef stock instead of plain water, 2 Qt (32 oz) to the 2 lbs. 85% ground beef. It turned out great with shredded cheese and onions on top. Yummers!

CR, you're kidding about the beans, right? That's what makes it low-carb! No beans allowed! Heck, I couldn't even add an onion because it would add another 20g to the total! LOL!

I prefer it without the beans myself, but the men here want the toot fruit. Shameful that onions are so high. I have my son eating green peppers as they're lower in carbs. I've never put raw onions on top. I'd like that. When you have the time, could you pm me your recipe. Nice to see someone else uses cinnamon in a tomato based recipe. I do it all the time.
