@philrmcknight's Journal, 10 December 2016

I haven't been online much lately, got a few reasons but the main issue was my computer, nothing would load. So yesterday I was so fed up with it that I ditched Windows and burned a Linux live-cd. The interface is a bit different, but everything is up and running and I haven't been this happy with my computer in a long time. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, New Year's Resolutions are right around the corner, and I'm happy to say that for the first time probably ever I don't have any weight-loss goals!

Great to see you back, Phil! Merry Christmas to you too! You are the diet KING of this site anyway, glad things are going well now.

Great to see you again, Phil! In case the rebuild doesn't stick, best wishes for Xmas, New Year and right into 2017!

So far so good on the Linux build, took some getting used to, but it's running well. I'm using SlackoPuppy, but it's kinda smallish. I'm thinking about switching back to Knoppix, I used that about five years ago, but it won't fit on a live cd anymore, and I don't have any DVD-R's in the house. Knoppix has a lot more features and will probably serve me better, but Puppy is keeping me from having to wait five minutes for pages to load.

Phil, good to "see" ya! I didn't understand one word of your "tech" post but happy to hear you are alive and kickin'. My New Year resolution next year (and I aint starting it til then, lol) is to be more organized. Clean out drawers and closets, donate or throw away all unnecessary crap, and stay on top of things so they don't build up again. No more "junk drawers" for me! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and your family!

Good job on the technology problem-solving. What an amazing feeling that must be to not have weight loss goals! Maybe next New Year's for me on that one. Happy Holidays to you and yours!

Got a dvd-r last night at the $ Store, five for $6, quite a bargain and I'm currently downloading 4.34 Gigabytes of Knoppix 7.7.1, it's like getting a new computer for six dollars. Thanks for the comments and support, love you guys, love this community!
