How accurate have folks found the RDI estimates computed within the app? 2800 calories a day to maintain my (over) weight seems kinda high.

I always thought it was a little high too. My dietician told me you have to have about 500 calories between what you consume and what you burn to begin weight loss. I try to adjust my calories and my exercise based on that. Keyword is try, lol.

I always choose sedentary as the actively level also. This will bring your number down quite a bit.

The best way to know for sure is to get your RMR (resting metabolic rate) tested.

I think there are too many factors to consider and everyone is different. If I followed the RDA set for me I would be gaining weight! Even though I don't count calories, I try to keep them between 600-700 a day. Not always easy to do, but I find I stall if I go any where near 1000

I wondered too about this. Mine is set at 2200 and I'm thinking that this diet is fun because it doesn't change much for me on most days. It just changes those bing days where I ate way to much. I am sticking to it but wonder if I will take off the weight.

depends on your body composition. the app will assume that you have a moderate amount of muscle mass. If you're not beefy, you won't need nearly as many calories. people tend to overestimate how much muscle they carry
