Crazy busy day at work, overtime, meetings, at least we didn't work through lunch. Thankful everyday that I have a decent job.
Planned on exercise at the community center after work, less traffic and closer to home. Stopped at one of my favorite mid-eastern stores on the way for some garbanzo bean flour, it was all changed. Turns out this is where the African store I went to last week is moving to, they are still moving. They have many of the same products plus some different ones as the previous one. I ended up spending a long time taking to one of the new owners about different foods and how to cook them. He previously had a restaurant geared toward north African and Moroccan food and may expand into a small one within the store.
Dang food obsession....Ended up with my flour, 2#s of millet flour, a 2# bag of brown cow peas (new to me), green cardamom (used in Moroccan and Indian cooking among others) and nice really spicy chili powder.
An hour later head home by now it's after 6:30, I'm hungry so dinner, clean-up, catchup on here and off to bed. Exercising late will keep me awake.

You are a foodie for sure! It's great you keep trying new things. You are keeping up with sources for your food supply. Nothing wrong with that, is it? :) Hope you got a great night's rest

Have you ever tried Ethiopian food? The injera is amazing. It's a bread, but also a spoon.

I've had a couple ethiopian dishes years ago, the spices in the stores smell amazing! Will have to try that bread. As usual playing with my food, grins. the people I work with think I'm a bit nuts! Don't care, too old and comfy with me to worry about what others think about what I do off work. LOL Found a Morrocan website that looks interesting Morrocan-food.com. Ethiopian is on my list to go searching. Good nights sleep but too short.

Hey, Instantcrazy, I like eclectic food, also men--- we would get along well!!! no threat to your girlfriend LOL.... you would be fun with you the next cube, you would hate being in a cube though!! Job isn't really my thing but it pays bills and has incredible benefits, so I do the best I can. Where else do you get 4 weeks vacation after 6 years? Deb, I love spices and herbs, they can change boring to incredible!!! Honestly I have no one to play with food explorations with, still looking. One young co-worker lived in Japan for awhile and has a friend who live in Africa so we talk about food. I try to introduce the grandkids to different foods. My theory:: Bold interesting flavors satisfies bland just leaves you hungry for something else.

A night off now and again doesn a hurt anything and it's great to indulge your interests. I feel your pain, how many people have quinoa in three colors, two kinds of vanilla beans or a pasta drying rack? As far as vices go, at least it's harmless!

Jeri, I forgot to tell you that I took your recommendation about wheatgerm. I started adding 1 Tablespoon of wheatgerm to my oatmeal on January 1st. It's 30 calories, 4 carbs, 2 grams protein and 1 gram of fiber. It's a good thing! :)

I am a product of the 70s. I remember them like they were 40 years ago. My mom used to feed us carob, and whole grain bread, big Green vitamins crushed up on bread and butter. Now I am my mom, except the green bread and butter, those all ended up under the bed.

LMAO!! I never crushed up the vitamins and put them on the kids' toast. I think I would have hid them under the bed, too. :) I did hide a lot in their food but at the same time, they grew to like the Brewers Yeast in their orange juice.

Laughing. Green applesauce? You had crunched vitamins in yours?
29 Jan 15 by member: wholefoodnut

Oh yeah. I got everything nasty in applesauce then frozen into pops. We called them booger pops which made then very cool to our friends. I overdosed on fried chicken and frenchfries when I went away to school and got so sick I went back to the way I grew up eating, go figure.
