What a day!!! Big issue is that my granddaughter was one of 4 students in the cafeteria at her middle school when a 13 yo boy pulled a gun, gun waving at her. She just turned 14. Luckily the principal tackled him and pulled the gun away. Turned out the gun wasn't loaded but he had 4 other weapons, including knives on him.
From from what granddaughter says has been abused by family, was in foster care, now back with his family. He had also had other problems with classmates.
Scary, this is a rural school that is pretty close knit, unlike the city schools it has no metal detectors. Thank goodness no one was hurt, unlike the Michigan school today. My heart goes out to those families.
I was heading home debating on gym or no, came home. Grandson sent me a Facebook message. My day pales compared to theirs. I have
4 grandkids in that school.

Just so happy the gun was not loaded and the kid didn't use a different weapon on anyone. Kids are pretty shook, I have 4 grandkids in that school.

People died in a school shooting in Marysville WA school today and we had a lockdown today too. We had a shooting a couple of weeks ago but the innocent bystander kid is ok thank goodness.

Glad she is safe as is other children. I wonder what type of mind altering drug this kid was on. In most cases they are on some type of drug to "help" them, but only makes them off the chart irrational. Main street media hides this fact. Shameful.

Glad no one was hurt at the school. Horrible that it isn't safe for children to go to school. Hope the boy gets the help he needs. Take care and have a great weekend!

Jeri, I heard about that boy with a gun at school. It was shocking. Glad your grandkids and others in the school are safe. The principal was being called a hero for stopping him.

We had seen the Washington school shooting news on our closed caption TVs at work, just before I left for the day but caption had read Michigan in error. So so sad. It made me more thankful our kids here are safe. Very shook up but safe. Could be some sort of drugs, we may know more later. The media does hide a lot or distort the news.

Oh my god! That is so scary! Is your granddaughter doing OK? That's enough to give you nightmares for the rest of your life. Just to play Devils advocate, it sounds like this boy was reaching out for help since the gun wasn't loaded. A lot of these kids get lost in the shuffle and feel no one sees them. I hope he gets help. Sorry I always try to see positives.

I'll see the kids sometime this weekend. Triplets birthday is the 29th, so need to run up with their gifts. At 12, they want friend parties, not family😁. The boys were in class when they locked the school down. Kinzie was right in front of the kid with the gun, pointing it at her at times. From what the kids say, he had an awful home life and had bullied by some other kids. It does sound like he needs help, he had 5 various weapons with him. He was in foster care then put back with an abusive parent. The kids have been burning up Facebook so I've seen many of the comments of friends of my grandkids.

Thank God no one was hurt. That must be awful for everyone involved as well as their families. I have two great nephews who were sent back to their mother who married a man convicted of child molesting. I pray every day that he leaves his step sons alone. They moved to Kentucky where we can't check on them like we could here in AZ. I don't understand the courts & CPS who do things like returning kid to abuse... or potentially dangerous homes.

I was a teacher in a behavior problem pre-school for one year. I was considering going back to get my masters in special Ed at the time. I had 5 kids in my class 4 days a week the 5th day was spent writing reports for social services and legal matters, also occasional home visits, and working with Headstart. I do know how tough it can be working through those entities. We would have to take kids home to their abusive families, it was so hard. I could not do it for more than one year and did not re-new my contract.

I'll see them today, Bella. She went to a Halloween party last night so hope that helped, guess she didn't sleep much Friday night, and cried lot. Our whole family is so thankful the gun wasn't loaded.

Wow, that principal needs commended. Hate to say this, but I doesn't matter what that boy's problems are, it doesn't give him the right to bring a gun. Sometimes I feel people validate a reason for unacceptable behavior.
Thank goodness your grand babies and no one else's were hurt! Kudos to the principal for quick reaction🙏
