Pastor Jedi Ninja's Journal, 22 October 2014

I have to be diligent in preparing meals to take to work.Yesterday was suppose to be a low carb day, but when looking over what i had taken in, I was a 50% carbs.
Our church has a very successful and active food ministry. We get food donated all throughout the week from different places, but mostly it's bakery items that are about to go beyond their shelf life. We also have a small private Christian school in our church So, needless to say, we always have baked goods floating around the church, people bringing donuts and things for the kids.
I say all of this to make my point. If I don't pack healthy food, I inevitably get hungry and my decision has to be either to just starve my body(Which we know isn't good), or sneak something I shouldn't eat.
Can any of you relate? Success takes work and we (I) cannot be lazy in the evening or sleep in that extra 10 minutes if it means I don't have the right food to eat and keep me on track.
2 Timothy 1:7 says, "For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and SELF-DISCIPLINE."

One of my favorite sayings these days is..."failure to plan is like planning to fail". I wish I could give credit to the author - but Google provides a number of different sources including Benjamin Franklin and Winston Churchill just to name a few. Hebrews 12:11 reminds us that all discipline is painful for the moment...but don't we long for that peaceful fruit of righteousness we receive when we are fully trained by it?

I sure can relate. I work at a food warehouse/preparation facility and there's ALWAYS food being cooked and offered for the taking. If I'm not careful, planned, and disciplined I'll just sabotage my efforts every day.
