Sherillynn's Journal, 10 June 2017

So, I wanted to share a thought with all of you today. People keep talking about their motivation. They either have tons or they have none. I am going to dare to say that I don't think motivation is the key. Now don't get me wrong. Motivation is a wonderful thing to have but there are days I JUST DON"T have any at all. But this is the key thought. On those days, I am persistent.

Can it be that persistence is what we really need? We persist even when we are not motivated? There have been a few days in the last couple of weeks that I was NOT motivated to go on my evening walk. But I persisted.

In fact, I told myself that the dog, Hirschl, and I would just show up. We would only do a half mile instead of 3. Well, wouldn't you know, once I just showed up, I did the entire 3 and didn't even feel crotchety about it.

How about if we just persist this week? Let's see where it gets us.If you are motivated as well, God bless ya! Double bonus.

What are your thoughts on this? Am I on target or way off track?

I think you're definitely right. It's doing what you need to do, even when it isn't what you want to do that gets results.

Love this! I'm not motivated by motivation. And I can't keep inspiration flowing all the time. You hit on the answer for those between times: persistence! Which I'll apply to next phase of advance meal preparation today. (SO boring.) TY!
