Finding it hard to get motivated to eat anything at all. I know that's an oxymoron for many here, but I've kind off lost any appetite for food. Especially cooked foods.
I binge watched a food/travel vlogger all weekend, and appreciated all the exotic foods he was eating, but it seems like just watching him eat was enough to fill me up! Vicarious calories???
Anyone who believes the CICO myth only needs to look at my diet calendar:weight history to know that there is more at play than the first law of thermodynamics. I should be a shadow of my former self by now with the deficits I've consistently run for the last 6 months. But my progress is slow, and not at all steady.
No cheat meals, no hidden calories...it's all there.
Yes, I'm progressing. Yes, I can see a difference!
So, tonight I was a little hungry. I asked the body what it wanted...and got a blank stare in response. So I went to a modified traditional favorite: prosciutto, brie cheese, and anchovy-stuffed green olives. In the past, these would have gone with a crusty baguette....but not tonight. I ate seconds of everything, and still managed to only log 932 kcal for the day.
I seem to have the "famine" part of the equation down, but struggle with the "feast" part. I just don't feel like eating!
I know some will say, "I only WISH I had that problem!", but neither pole is good. Still finding the balance...
Lunch tomorrow should be interesting. ;)

Just keep eating the "right" things and you will continue to see results!

Your trend is downward, so that's what counts. I know about losing slow: My deficits should give me a regular weight loss of a pound a week, but I don't lose anywhere close to that. It's just how it is. But seriously, if you continue to have no appetite, you might want to see the doctor. Just a thought.

In my experience eating too little will slow and impede weight loss. Maybe increase your good fats? Say, some added olive oil. How close are you hitting your Macros?

.6 down is good; don't worry you'll get there.

I totally sympathize. I haven't been Hungary in months & it is so out of character for me. I have been sick more than not for the last year so that is part of it. But, seems I should still get Hungary in my stomach or in my mind.

I too am going down slowly with very few calories. Frustrating isn't it? We must be twins separated at birth.

Just one question. Have you had your Thyroxine levels checked? A slightly under-active Thyroid could slow down your weight loss. Good number though.

Thanks, friends. I attribute the lack of hunger and appetite to being fat adapted. When you've got access to 5000 fajita dinners around your middle (as Butter Bob says), it makes eating kind of superfluous. I know a big factor is the fact that my neighbors have emptied their pool for the year, and that was my main means of exercise.

How nice to be free of cravings. Nice drop, too. You must be very close to your goal ☺

I've been stuck at the same weight for the last two years. I'm on a protein based diet and go to the gym 5 days a week. I work out with a trainer twice a week. You would think something would give. He says not to worry about my weight that I'm gaining muscle. I like the muscle part but I still want to reach my calorie goal.

Hi Ms - One of the interesting things about the LCHF Program is you eat only when you are hungry and them eat only until you are full. This means that the traditional 3 squares a day have no place in your life any longer. I have been LCHF for 9 months now and there are many days I eat 1 meal and many days where I might choose to fast if I feel I may have indulged too much the day before. Hell I have recently completed two 10 day Wet Fasts and I don't seem no the worse for it. But I have discovered one thing and that is if indeed you are hungry you had better eat and if that means 3 times today or one time do not try to ruke your program via the calorie count. I am not saying calories don t matter on LCHF they just matter a whole lot less then if you were on any other medium or high carb diet. Sometimes on LCHF we tend to think well hey if I don't eat I have to lose weight but this is not correct and on LCHF there should never ever be a need for what other programs call a cheat day. Eat REAL FOOD every day you eat and always eat until you are full and then DO NOT eat again until you are hungry and if that is the next day then so be it. The one thing I appreciate the most on LCHF is if you are eating properly the weight will come off at a steady pace and not always in large numbers as we would like it too and when eating properly I am never hungry nor do I ever have the urge to cheat. And I cannot say that about any of the many other diets I have been on. Some times it takes me 3 or 4 weeks to drop through another 10 pounds and I have even with IF taken as many as 5 weeks to drop to the next level so don't get discouraged just get eating real food and make sure you are working in one of Dr. Fung's IF whether it be 16/8/, 5/2 or any one of his plans.

Hmmm... well it could be a couple of things. For instance, your height: short people need fewer calories. A woman who is only 5'1" can maintain 105 lbs. on only 900 cals/day. The other thing is your activity level. Twenty minutes of walking (1 mile)burns 100 cals, so if you aim for 5 miles/day, that's a pound gone, in addition to your cut calories, each week.

weight lose is so individual. for me ;i have come to accept that even when i reach goal; i'll never ,for the rest of my life be able to eat like someone who never had a weight problem and is the same weight. just a fact. so i guess i'll be on FS for ever logging my food diary.

Dieting in extreme cases will bacfire and result to binge eating! :-)

Kathleenscanlan is telling you the true, but the true doesn't make being on FS for the rest of your life bad. It just means you'll have a lot of good people around and support you through weight maintenance. you'll can than be a good supporter of those who are still on the weight loss journey. IT'S A WIN, WIN SITUATION!

I agree with DMZur wholeheartedly!

@Kathleen, I'm hoping that my new WOE is repairing the metabolic damage that caused my issues, and I do plan to stay on it long term, with some modifications, once I reach my goal. At the very least, I know I'm off sugar and wheat for life! By now, I've got it dialed in so well that I can almost figure my daily carb count without logging, but as @DMZur says, the community support is a big part of my success so far, and will likely be a big part of maintenance. And if I can help others find their path to the same success, I will be happy to do so. @Hector, not everyone is prone to binges. Fortunately, it's never been a problem for me, and I don't expect it will become one.
