Sugar Waffle's Journal, 27 August 2016

Sorry if this pisses most of you off. Topic: alcohol. Too much alcohol can also cause heart failure at any age. Saw it first hand. I do not drink alcohol. I personally have never seen anything good come from it, besides it tastes horrible.

When I turned 14 a so called friend gave me a drink of juice. Didn't know what alcohol was at that time. It was mostly vodka and a drug in it. Last thing I remembered at that time was being thrown into a snowbank like a piece of garbage. Woke up 3 days later with permanent injuries, and shame that have lasted 42 yrs and counting. Yes, alcohol can ruin lives.

So to the young ones on here, think twice

Oh, that is horrible. My heart goes out to you. I hope you can find peace...it was not your fault. Take care!

Anyone who denies this is just, stupid. I am watching first hand someone die from alcoholism. Much better off never touching the stuff!

No shame, dearest Sugar. You are not what was done to you. No shame. {{{hugs}}}

Thanks for sharing. Alcohol can ruin lives in so many ways. I don't drink alcohol, but I am not against the occasional drink, but loads of alcohol shouldn't play a daily part in anyone's life. I say the young and old folks should think twice because some older folks are worse than than the younger ones.

Wow, I didn't read the remainder of your story, so very sorry, Sugar. Who gave you the drink, some kid?

I'm glad you shared this. I work with law enforcement, and I have seen a lot of instances where alcohol (as well as other drugs) have ruined lives. Drinking alcohol in itself is not a problem, but the problems arises when people drink to excess, and they fail to realize that the alcohol is controlling them instead of vice-versa.

Love you all, thank you for your support. I am not writing this for attention. I wrote it to try to save someone else from going through the pain that too much alcohol can cause. Especially to the young people on here. There is nothing cute about being drunk. iulani, so much time has passed that the newer generation in my small town would not have heard the story, thankfully. The version out there was by the ones who hurt me and got away with it. So, back in the 70's 'the victim did something to deserve it'. When I see them once in a while, I just see old, sickly looking beings. Can't come to call them men. One thing that has come from that day, is I have become the person I am now. Healthy and blessed to be a part of this community of wonderful members :)

yes ; ive seen people die of liver failure while in their late 20's and kids die of alcohol overdose in their teens. i don't smoke but i'm voting dor marajuana here i florida next election. it's safer than alchohol AND then it can be taxed. mj is not a gateway drug . all those pain pills that dr perscribe are the gateway drugs!!! thats my opinion anyway

What a twist in life that it was drinking too much alcohol that killed my son last year. Heart failure

Sugar, drugs of any kind are a problem. Our country is being destroyed by prescription addiction, that is leading to cheaper, heroin addiction. They said 250 heroin overdoses were reported in three counties just last week. Parents are appalled, that they are finding their kids dying from heroin addiction, because the drug is so cheap. It is an awful problem across the US. My nephew was telling me, young, college students at my university, I attended, were doing heroine in the dorms. Shocking!

kathleenscanlan, I don't smoke either, but I do know a few people who are in less physical pain because they smoke pot. I also agree with you on prescription drugs.

So sorry for your loss Sugar Waffle. You've had some serious loss and alcohol played a part.

Well, I can't imagine any of us are thinking you are posting this to get attention for yourself. You are always thoughtful and kind in regards to your post. Again, thanks for posting. Nothing wrong with trying to get the message out there and warn folks by sharing your experience. There have been situations in my own life and in the life of my family involving alcohol and that is one of the reasons I don't drink.

Killed my X, My Dad, and a number of others. Hurts the people around them. I can't imagine losing a child. I'm so sorry.

My sympathies Sugar, that you had to endure that. One of my close female friends, told me she was constantly raped by her father as a child. I was absolutely SHOCKED!

Maybe I subconsciously brought it up because my son would be 31 tomorrow if he was still here

Agree with Engeland. You are the most selfless person here. You do and care so much for others on a constant basis. It is gracious and brave to share your painful history as a cautionary tale for others. ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
