Linney, we all have times and days that don't work out, nice that you're putting that behind you...try for a month at a time to have a loss, no matter how small they will all add up in time...we can't be perfect day in day out, it's what we do after that really make a difference in the end. Good luck and hope your week ahead goes well, we are all rooting for you!!

Thanks Steven! I would love to be able to stay off the scale for a month. Hmmm, wonder if I could. That would be a huge accomplishment for me as I allow that scale to dictate my worth...not very smart!! Thanks for rooting for me!!

I think it's extremely common for people to have trouble sticking to a diet day after day after day. There are some new (and successful) dieting concepts that you might look into and/or try. One is Every-Other-Day diet and the other is The Fast Diet. They are fairly similar in that you have days where you eat very low calories (~500, moderate fasting) and then no restrictions on other days. These methodologies show improved health results like better cholesterol, blood sugar and A1C and a typical weight loss of 1 to 1.5 lbs per week, a high proportion of which is fat loss.

Linny, I don't know if I could go a full month without weighing either (that scale keeps calling my name -- "just take one little peek!!" -- but perhaps you could manage a week? That would eliminate some of the day-to-day fluctuations, and may give you a bigger "boost" with better results. And, yes, you can do anything for one day, and life is lived one day at a time!!

Hey Linney...just to clarify.... the month goal is to lose weight...weighing yourself often is still important to see how things are going.... for me recording water weight fluctuations doesn't work, I only record weight (fat) changes that are sustained (up or down). I look at each month as a goal time frame, so even if I have a big calorie/carb day like yesterday, I don't stress and just adjust the next couple of days down. Some months (vacationing, etc.) not gaining is a big win!!! Hope that clarifies things a bit.

Hey Steven, thanks for the clarification....it's clear now. I know I get really upset if I don't lose/remain the same/or show a gain in a given week. So if I could change my mind set into viewing my achievements in a monthly time frame, it could stop me from giving up when the scale starts yelling "you're a loser for not losing"!!!!!!! And yep pandasmom, I have to take a peek, at least once a week. Trackin64, I heard about the Fast Diet. I recall years ago while on Weight Watcher's someone started a blog that emphasized eating what you wanted one day a week. It was said that it rev up your metabolism. Not sure if it's true. Are you doing the Fast Diet? My eyes are getting heavy...2 am here....sweet dreams all!!!
