wholefoodnut's Journal, 02 July 2015

My day, eating well not much for exercise. I did get the branches picked up from my backyard from the 80+ mph winds last week. It was too wet to mow and actually finished with a very light rain. I figured the branches were from my maple trees, not. I have no idea where they came from as the trees in the park behind my house do not match the leaves. Jazzy and I also went for a short walk trying to find a tree that matched the ones in my yard. Just curious.

Heading for bed shortly and no alarm in the am. This gramma isn't used to midnight bedtimes and then 4am alarms. Actually either is crazy pup, Jazzy. Hoping no weather alarms going off in the night. Last night friends were in the tornado warning areas just south of me by about 2 miles with funnels overhead; one touched down close to a good friend's home. Our sirens were going off with just a hazy sky.

So happy for a 3 day weekend.

Glen, I lived in Oklahoma back in the late 50's early 60's and we would get the dust/sand storms. I have not heard of any recently. Those were awful! Everything buried in inches of sand and fine loess dirt. The weather people are saying some pop up storms today and then no rain until Sunday. I'm hoping to get the grass mowed today and weed eated. I will have to mow the back several times as it is so long. The sun is out for the moment but hazy from the smoke that northermusician sent to us.

LOL My pup would like having no/little thunder. She is so scared of it. The desert is so pretty after a rain. I saw it once in New Mexico somewhere.

Enjoy your three day weekend....you deserve it! I hope your weather is good this weekend and that you can do the things you had planned. Commenting on an earlier comment....we still get those dust storms in West Texas---we call them "real estate exchanges"...not so bad now as the crops are in and holding down the soil but March and October can be killers when the red dirt start blowing and the street lights come on in the middle of the day because the dust makes it look like night. Being from the Midwest, this was a whole new learning experience....

OH I remember the red skies from the dust flying and how dark it would get. I can't imagine living through the dust bowl time frame. Love the real estate exchange nickname. I was a kid and my Dad would make us go out and clean up after those "dust storms". It was definitely exercise..LOL

I hear ya. We've been having alarms here too. It's crazy, but it is that time of the year for it.

Loving it 2 days of sunshine and warm weather. No weather radio blasting, I do like having it as a warning even if it drives me slightly nuts sometimes.
