Still trying to figure out my heart moniter. I *am* liking it! Today it showed I stayed in the upper to mid 70% of my maxiumum heart rate for the whole 2.5 mile walk. I didn't keep yesterdays reading as it wasn,t a full walk or at my usual pace since Keeper was with me(YAY..& it was HIS idea to go!) but I did wear it & check it as usual since the instructions said the more I check it the more accurate it reads. Compared to fatsecret my moniter says my 45 min. walk today burned 683 calories. Way more than the 209 fs credits me. And my 40 min walk plus my 13 min core work out alloted me 573 when fs only counted it at 355. Anyway....I am feeling so much slimmer even tho the weight isnt going any where. I tell myself its because of my eating & lack of exercise when Im with Keeper. I hope that is the case because Im trying to figure out ways to keep on track when Im with him. To his credit,he IS talking more about getting healthy(& what we speak about we bring about, action follows thought!) I am also finding that when I keep a HUGE bowl of salad ready to eat in the fridge he has been getting into it!! :) It's all PROGRESS :)
I just noticed as I re-read my entry that staying in the 70's percent of my maximum heart rate burned more cal's than going from 70s-80%....I do believe that is what my research was telling me too. Gotta go recheck that! :)

How to use your heart rate monitor. A wonderful thing to add to my challenge. Thanks for the idea.

Rechecked my research(Younger Next Year For Women) & yes that is right! 66-80% of max heart rate = 2nd Gear (More Power/Less Mileage)& should be done 4 dys/wk to burn glucose (the controller of health & fitness thru-out the body) :)

Well I'd much rather be burning more calories than FS says rather than the other way around. I used to match the calories burned on my pedometer to FS calories not time. I didn't know how fast I was walking, and it varies during my walk. All until it literally bit the dust 😢

Sorry to hear it bit the dust! I may decide to do that, match the cal's my moniter says to fatsecret. I think I wanna continue as is for a while longer,it is to take some time for my moniter to have accurate readings but Im not sure how long. I imagine that come January it should be acclumated to me,huh? :?

My experience is the calorie counters on FS are very optimistic I regularly have a 1000 a day deficit and my weight is pretty stable. if this the calorie counter was correct there would be nothing left of me as I have had these deficits for over four year look at my diet calender some day. Now keep in mind I exercise 10 to 15 hours a week (6 hours weight lifting an the rest is cycling)our bodies do adapt and become efficient and the better shape we get in the less calories we will burn. Not to be confused with more muscle which does burn more calories. I'm 60 and my daily maintenance level is 3300-3500 cal. I make this statement from keeping an accurate and consistent food diary and weight graph. The new gadgets seem to be on the low side. I use a polar watch which seems to be the most accurate tracking device again I make this statement based on what it says my burn is and comparing it to my food intake and weight gain or lose

By the way I eat a fairly balanced diet I average 38% of my calories from protein and 31 % fat and 31% carbs I seldom vary by more than a couple of points either way unless I have a cheat meal which I do once a week but In the long run these are my monthly averages
