Much better day today! YAY!!! No dizziness, no headache, not as tired. Easier day at work as well.

Had my gym clothes in my car. Such a beautiful day I could not make myself go inside or fight the traffic to get to the gym. The gym is toward Royal's stadium from my house, the traffic is crazy today as everyone is taking different routes home to avoid I-70 (stadium is right off the interstate) to get home from work. It's been jammed since about 1:00. Decided to come home and walk in the park. Did a bit over 1.5 miles. Nice walk, 73 degrees, no wind, sunny, trees turning colors.

Couple of stops on the way home. Decided my body could use extra protein after my crash, had ground pork last night. Stopped at a very busy small but well stocked Mexican grocery that has an amazing and really good meat market. Nothing is packaged. Bought a smoked pork chop (.33 of a #) and some lovely top round (.62 of a #) perfect to slice for some fajitas. Should have some of their store made tortillas, will stop back tomorrow.

A woman in line was laughing because of my tiny packages, basically asked me if I lived alone. She mostly spoke Spanish, we were talking with my English, a her few words in English, her Spanish and hands. She was shopping for 6 people in her house. I should take some classes in Spanish just to go grocery shopping!! No way am I going to tackle an Asian language to shop in those stores LOL.. pork chop may have some nitrates but it's been several years since I've had one, and I only bought one.

Tonight's dinner sautéed cabbage and onions, smoked pork chop, topped with some peppers and onions I cooked extra of last night.

The weather has been gorgeous! I know it can't last, but enjoying it while it does. Is the market the little store attached to El Maguey on Noland? I miss Mexican while I'm back to the elimination! Glad you're feeling better.

Oh no, that store has very little. It's fairly new maybe 2 years, on 24 hiway west of I435. Old northeast has a lot of ethnic stores, not so much Italian anymore. They have great meat and produce. Love it!! My route to work is within a block of the store, so a good stopping point.

I'll have to check it out next time I'm up that way. I've never explored that area.

This one has a complete meat market. Course all cuts geared to Mexican cooking and most of the labels are in Spanish, there is usually someone who will translate. They have good store made flour tortillas, I get the corn ones somewhere else. Weekends it's shoulder to shoulder people, just totally packed, not many speaking English.

I learned most of my Spanish working in restaurants, and from signs printed in both English and Spanish, and Sesame Street.

Love it! Dora the Explorer with the grandkids. They are too old for that now.

Hmm.. maybe that's what that couple was snickering about my basket that night? Glad to read you are feeling better and yes, I agree the protein will help your recovery.

What small bags of stuff? My meat bags were ceratinly small, grins. But perfect for me. Drives me crazy when everything including veggies are packaged in amounts I would never be able to eat before it spoils.

It'll be next month . . . no more money for this month. :-)

Believe me I get that Johanna. I am relieved that grandkids sports are mostly over for a bit, the gas has been killing budget this year. Too many birthdays in the fall as well. Watching the pennies. The smoked pork was so good and really a perfect size, .33 of a pound including the small bone and it had been trimmed of all excess fat. Annoys me to pay for inedible meat parts.
