ChristyLA's Journal, 30 August 2014

Don't get too blown away by this surprising weigh-in, because I'm not. I went into it expecting to be steady or gain. I'm not expecting a loss anymore, because it is too disappointing when it doesn't happen. I'm doing all I can to be healthy, so I'm letting my body do what it wants to do. At this point, I don't have any more control over it, so I'm not expecting to lose more weight. It's still nice, of course, but honestly I don't care if I don't lose any more weight. My objective is to treat my body as kindly as possible and to be as healthy as possible, and achieving those goals is satisfying enough for me to continue my lifestyle.

So don't get hung up on your weight. Just strive to be healthy and you will have succeeded :)

You have a great attitude Christy! Not stressing so much must have helped you. I agree it is great not to be hung up on the weight issue. I hope I can feel that way after the next thirty pounds, or more :)

Thanks, Kattay and Tulip! I just reread my post and realize it sounds kind of negative. I didn't mean to come off that way. I just wasn't affected by my weigh-in and was sharing my new outlook on the scale :)

Best advice ever, Christy. HEALTH! There is more to health than the amount you weight at that moment in time you step on the scale. Given that weight can go +/- 4 pounds in a day depending on water, salt, activity level.... just let basic metabolism run its course and strive for health without obsessing over the scale.

Awesome attitude, Christy. You are definitely in maintenance now. Also remember that if you do go up a little it is probably muscle building from your ChiRunning. You got this! So happy for you!

Eddie, I figure it's not worth fighting my body at this point. I'll just do my best, continue to try to refine things, and allow my body to do what's natural for it. Health and maintaining my healthy habits is my goal at this time. I was actually kind of mad about my weight loss this week, because I did the same as last week in which I gained 0.4 lbs. So I was mad at my body for making me depressed about the weight gain and then giving me this significant weight loss, like it was tricking me or something. The unpredictability sucks, which is why I won't expect anything on the scale anymore and will just use it to motivate me to continue my journey.

Deb, as for the ChiRunning, that is almost entirely cardio, but I'm weightlifting and strength training 2 days a week, so that is definitely building some muscle. I checked out my calf muscles last night and couldn't believe the bulging muscle that I saw when I flexed them, lol.

Hey there! Nice drop although we agree the scale is not really important but feeling well and fit is the goal. There is a reason I call the scale "The Idiot Box." I am so interested in ChiRunning since you mentioned it last week and have been reading about it. It likely does not work well on a treadmill because it is nit a natural surface on which to run. I miss my running though and may consider taking a little trot around the neighborhood.

Yay! Be careful and I hope it goes well! Have you read the book yet? It is SO good. I'm making my way through it :) I hope ChiRunning allows you to get back to running!

This is so awesome. Way to go. Having healthy outlook is so important and being kind and healthy with your body is all we can strive for. Proud of you and how far you have come.
