Deb_N's Journal, 01 August 2014

Thanks for the support and comments on my previous journal(s)! My restaurant dinner was high in fat, carbs, sugars, protein, fiber, sodium, high in everything! It was a private dinner so I guess it was catered and everyone's plate was the same. No choice, but thankfully no rice. However, the portions were normal sizes and after I came home I logged all my food on my armband website and I estimated that it was 1500 calories for one meal. I ate everything except the potato and I did not eat the roasted carrot because I was full and I did not want to have that stuffed feeling. The walking I did yesterday really helped me so much because after a day of high calories over my RDI it was great to know that today I did not gain weight! Here we go again. On Saturday we have another restaurant dinner and I'm going to hope that I don't eat the roll and butter. :)

You did an excellent job all the way around I would say, and on top of that hope you had a great time too. You are really doing a great job, so don't be too hard on yourself.

Restaurant Foods are loaded even when they call them low calories, my question to you, what is your total target of daily Calories? what approximately are the total Carbs. you are consuming ? to have lost that weight in less than a year. congrats.

Sounds like you made great choices. I really do not liked that stuffed feeling either.

My calories are usually 1100 to 1375 daily, with 1500 maximum but rarely. Carbs are 150 grams., with 200 grams maximum. I keep my sugars below 50 grams daily. Fiber 25-40 grams daily. Fat 35% of calories is my daily goal. Protein is 46 grams minimum daily. Sodium less than 1500 mg daily. I try!

Today we had a picnic dinner with my family and in-laws. I did better than the restaurant dinner yesterday. I hope I do well at the restaurant dinner tomorrow. Then I will hit the walking trail and try to get my calories down low for a while to recover three days in a row of off the chart celebrating. So glad that I have goals and a plan. Thanks for all your support and tips! :)

Deb, I'm sure you'll do STELLAR tomorrow. IMO this is a part of the re-education process. Life goes on while we're losing weight and we're learning how to manage eating at home AND having social meals out. Just a thought for tomorrow that often helps me - have some kind of light snack before you leave the house. Something that's just enough to take the edge off your hunger. The rolls and butter will look much less enticing!

Deb, family get-togethers can play havoc as often you don't have choices that fit your plan. Just adjust as draglist and others here do. Decrease a couple days later, the next day or if not a few days later. I try to average over about a weeks time. I will have to do that over my next week, as too much beer this week. Mindful eating though not enough veggies and 9pm is a good dinner time here; actually it was often that when my kids were teens. Too many activities after school and my crazy work schedules back then.

Boy ! Do I need to go back to school. Went to Outback last night ,took me forever to check out the menu and I thought I chose the healthier meal, but boy was I wrong. I ordered the grilled Talipia with crab and steamed veggies. My total calories for that meal was almost 700 cal. I almost wanted to throw up. The salt was way to much for me ,so I gained almost 2 pounds ,probably water weight ,,ankles swollen this morning. It makes me not want to eat out anymore, but I can't deny my hubby the same fate . I will be smarter next time and order a salad. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Outback is good at loading everything with butter. It makes everything taste richer. They put pats of butter on cooked meat to add juiciness and flavor. Salt also is a flavor enhancer.
