KayBuckaroo's Journal, 18 August 2018

So, no calorie deficit for Kay buck today... what I did was more wonderful than losing a few ounces.... I don’t mean to brag but I kind of had several campfire s’mores after dinner, in the back yard. Second time this year I’ve done that, and no regrets! Old me would have not ever enjoyed even one! I’m certain of that. It’s my first summer allowing myself to have these treats since I was a child and they’re so wonderful. They became taboo in my late teens, when I began dieting. I’d have had all of the ingredients, separated, in private, and then beat myself up over it! 😂 My husband and I were cracking up over how messy they are. And of course you have to get the marshmallows just right to melt the chocolate. It was the perfect ending to a perfect day. I’m so happy! It’s kind of a big deal for me and my husband and our boys. Mom hasn’t ever had a relaxing time with s’mores, and as much as I had to eat out there, I’m not in any pain and I’m not feeling guilty ... this is my first time not eating s’mores in private, I guess I’m saying, and I figured out that I had 5, at 150 calories apiece, which put me over double my RDI but I have that set super low anyway. ****Eating for enjoyment**** is a part of the human experience. Therapy says that you’re going to eat something now and then that has no nutritional value, is even bad for you, and that you don’t consume because you’re hungry. It’s different than obligatory eating- probably the exact OPPOSITE and, guess what?! Normal people do this on a semi regular basis! If this is what normal is, then sign me up.

“Normal” people do do this and then move on. Not every day, not every meal. But you are right. You have to balance ENJOYING your life or what is the point.. this is where figuring out portion control and moderation can enable you to enjoy guilt free.

Oooooh so sticky and gooey and chewy - glad you were able to enjoy them!

Good for you! Personally I don’t care for them and I’m happy about that as I like the chocolate too much lol. Now I get the chocolate that would go on one and the rest of the family have their s’mores. Works for us and kids are happy because it means they get my portion :).

You're in the 150's and look good, you're at a good spot where there is no rush to get healthy anymore and you're happy. I feel like I am there too and am really only trying to lose some more to have a 6 pack. Slow and steady.

Good for you! I know how hard it is (anorexic in late teens/eraly 20s) to overcome... enjoy the smores! Even better, as you did, enjoy them in good company - having guilt free fun!

That is such good news! To be able to dip your toe in the sea of decadence without drowning! lol Yep, you are definitly on the right track to gain normalcy with your eating. Can't ask for better than that! Congrats on winning your battle!

Diablo: yes, you’re spot on. I’m interested in losing 15 overall this next year, and it’s going to take time. Might as well enjoy, ease up the militant structures a little here and there (I actually really like the rigidity) and the rest of y’all, you’re darn right I wanna be EXTRAORDINARILY NORMAL 😼 I guess I should elaborate: I wanna be the woman who is fit as fuck, eats what she WANTS, wants to eat WELL, exercises daily to feel GREAT, and keeps thin by this lifestyle. If that’s what I have to do to enjoy my 5 s’mores 2X a year, I’m in.

You're spot on - you are now an 'ordinary' extra-ordinary person. Well done.
