kathydetweiler's Journal, 20 July 2018

I haven't written because I'm ashamed. I've gained two pounds back and I feel so disappointed. When I got out of the 240s to 239 I was so thrilled! I'm still walking five miles a day and still being careful about what I'm eating but my weight is going in the wrong direction! This is all so new to me, and I've really tried embracing this as a lifetime change. I'm not giving up, just discouraged.

Oh well, hey. Two steps forward, one step back. You probably just need a good trip to the bathroom! I'm changing my lifestyle, too, and training my brain is probably the hardest thing I've ever had to do. If you find yourself stuck in a rut, change things up. Walk 2 miles and bike 3 or whatever. Look at your foods; make sure you're eating enough fiber to move it on through your body. We don't anything sticking around, especially on our thighs! Do NOT be ashamed. You are doing all the right things to make positive changes in your life FOREVER. It doesn't happen overnight!

Don't be discouraged. Weight loss is almost never a straight road. The ups and downs make it interesting and, if we let it be, fun. We get to experiment with different food philosophies, practice new recipes, try on new clothes, make some new friends and figure ourselves out a little bit in the process. Set backs and leaps forward are all part of the journey. You're doing better than you feel. :-)

Hang on in there. My weight always fluctuate. I try not to get obsessed with the scale. Sometimes I have to mix up my routine in food or exercise and trick my metabolism. It works. Embrace your inches lost as a victory and trust the process. You will get there.

Don't have shame in your journey. You will have ups and downs, but learning what is working and what isn't is a big part of this. Just keep moving forward and you'll get that scale moving in the right direction.

I had a 3 pound gain on 800 calories and it took a while to adjust my diet to make my body work better. sometimes going lower does not promote a boost. take a good look at what you are logging and see if you see anything off. lots of times it is just a plateau and water weight. It comes off all on its own.

Everyone will tell you that this is just the way weight loss goes. I never get too excited until I"ve weighed under my goal for several days in a row. Take heart. If you continue meeting your macros everyday you are going to lose weight. Have you taken your measurements? I didn't and I regret it. Now I have to go on how my clothes fit. You can do this. Just keep on keeping on. 👍👍💕

Look how far you've come since only May! Being ashamed just keeps us where we are instead of focusing on what we are creating. Glad you are not giving up. And smile as you keep it in perspective - those are great results since May. it will come off as long as we stay in the game and play to win.

If you are walking 5 miles/day you are probably adding some muscle. Muscle is 80% water and water is heavy. Stay with your exercise and eating fewer calories than you expend ..... the weight will come off AND you will be stronger and more toned.

I’ve only been at this officially (on this site) for about 4 1/2 months now so I get lost a lot. Are you measuring your food in grams? I find this is the most accurate and keeps me honest in my logging. When I try to guess then weight I’m usually off by a couple hundred calories per day which adds up! I’ve been stuck at 140 or just below since May 31st! I lost 0.6 yesterday and found it again this morning :/. I fluctuate from 137-139 constantly (my ultimate goal is 120 with 20-22% BF). I read an article this morning that explained how our bodies are programmed for survival. It doesn’t want us to lose because it doesn’t know if there will be food/energy in our future. It said the first 10-20 are usually easy to lose then our bodies decide we must be starving it. Another article that was similar stated that after each 10# we should maintain for a couple weeks while varying diet and calorie amount so our body knows it will get food. After that go for another 10#.

You have made good progress. There will be more bumps along your way to your goal. No, worries. Don't give up and you will get there...

Like everyone else had already stated, no need to be ashamed. You are getting it done! Weight loss is tricky and takes patience, ad well ad adjustments. It's all worth it. You are worth it! Keep moving forward, even if that means the taking a pause to figure things out. It's all progress. You've got this.😊

No worries - shame keeps us fat! We accept you! Accept yourself. It's OK, just start again.
