Who else loves potatoes?? 🥔. I’m trying to give up meat. I’m about 90% there. However I can’t give up potatoes. Baked. French fries. Mashed. Hash browns. Maybe it’s because I don’t care for much other vegetables. Carrots are good.

I too love potatoes fixed every way possible. The only way I could stay away from temptation was to not have them in the house. If we go out to eat and someone has fries I focus on my own plate. It was tough at first and it’s gotten a lot easier over time.

I love them too! Interesting fact - if you cook them, then let them cool completely (I leave mine overnight in the fridge) their GI index lowers (whether you reheat them or not) and your body processes them a bit more like fibre. Also, I love baked jacket potatos - and they're not that bad for you depending on what your toppings are.

I love potatoes and never met a kind I didn't like. If I could eat only one food the rest of my life, it would be potatoes. I'm a calorie counter so I can control my portions, I can enjoy. Whenever I see a recipe using "leftover mashed potatoes" I wonder what they are. I've never seen any in my family. LOL

Do the potato diet. On my bucket list, just haven't gotten there yet.

I watch a lot of documentaries and you can find positives or negatives on anything out there. Everything in life is in moderation. Baked or boiled it’s a non processed food. Watch the topping and enjoy. A lot worse food out there.

A life where you can't have what you love is not a life I would like. Just eat them within your calorie allowance. No harm unless you cannot control it.

but potatoes aren't meat 😄 they have vit C, potassium and fiber. I love boiling the baby ones and eating them chilled as a snack. try the purple ones

Just eat in moderation and watch portion sizes.. potatoes aren't a vegetable... they are a starch/ carbohydrate.... when I was a competitive weight lifter I used them to carb load

Love potatoes!!! Love, love, love!!! Not eating many currently but plan to reintroduce once I get to maintenance. Oh how I miss them!

Yep— read up a little bit on the health value of potatoes. They have been given a lot of bad press. I think you might be amazed at what they have to offer in terms of nutritional value. But, again it is all about portion control, how you cook them. A giant baked potato stuffed with cheese and sour cream is not going to cut it. Also a consideration as to whether you have health issues like kidney disease because potatoes are huge in the potassium department which is a big problem for most kidney patients.

I love potatoes but have stopped eating them. The only thing they do is stall progress and add on the calories worked so hard to lose.

What's not to like about a spud? Not the best option for actively losing weight, but fine in maintenance in moderation.

Try watching "Well Your World" on YouTube where this guy (Dillon) cooks vegan and uses lots of boiled potatoes on Dr. McDougal's plan. There are lots of other YouTube videos to watch like Chef AJ and "The Watering Mouth". Just type in vegan or WFPB. Good luck! I'm enjoying this diet more than any I've ever been on. I also have cut out dairy. I have a great recipe for brownies if you like chocolate just let me know and I'll post it! Nan

I steam or roast small red potatoes and add SOME to my salads. This is about PORTION CONTROL. You will gain weight on anything if you eat enough of it.

Not true.

Love 'em but if I start eating them again I can't stop. That's why I don't have them anymore. Irish mother, so as a kid they were on the table for EVERY meal.
