WARNING More self reflecting..lol

So, I just finished reading "The Art and Science of Low Carbohydrate Living". I recommend this book to anyone who doesn't excel on a low fat diet. It covers SO much scientifically, medically, and more. It has answered every question I had about everything, including protein intake.

I sit here and am amazed how well I can comprehend writings like these now. When I first started the ketogenic diet a couple of years ago, I would have to read a 1/2 page business letter 3-4 times to be able to understand what it was trying to say. I would be at the doctors every month screaming,"Fix me! I'm literally losing my mind." It had gotten so bad that I could barely even mentally process the 1-2-3 process of just doing simple daily tasks like washing dishes. Tonight, I just completed reading 279 pages of complex reading in just a few days, along with constantly ringing you all's ears, taking care of the kids, preparing to make Thanksgiving diner, etc. Although I slipped away from the Keto diet over the past year or so, thank God I didn't get so far back into the HEAVILY toxic carbs that was the main cause of my brain fog, anxiety, depression, hypertension, and obesity, though I could have done a lot better by staying completely on track.

How did I ever leave such a wonderful lifestyle plan that had dramatically improved my life?? It started a bite here and there, and before I knew it a year to a year and a half had passed. I take full responsibility for my actions. My name is Lee, and I am a carboloholic.

Ok, I'm ordering a copy of that book in the morning! I think it's fantastic that you're really embracing the getting back on track aspect, I had to, too, but it's so worth the pain and effort! You're doing great, and you're highly inspiring!

The confusing part is that there's just as much science to back opposing views. The key is to find what works for you. Good luck.

CatHerder- yes! that is exactly right! I am always searching out the "best" WOE for ME and it can be so confusing. Eat this, no don't, eat more this, oh my goodness lower that, subtract this, add that, you ate what???, why didn't you eat this????.....I have basically tried to find what works for me and what I can live with long term.

It's true that we're all different, but we all fall into metabolism types. I call them "fortunate" and "unfortunate" metabolisms. Fortunate metabolisms can enjoy sugars and starches without gaining any significant weight. Unfortunate metabolisms can run out of control on a high sugar/high starch diet.

So very true, CatHerder, and the book I was reading doesn't deny that. It admits that there is no "one size fits all" plan. It does say that the "fortunate" (let's go with that term) is only about 1/3 of the US population. It tells about signs of metabolic issues long before they happen. It even says that it is very possible that in the near future dietary plans will be based on geneomics. @Schmetterlinge34, Thank you! @Rckc, Nice plan! You know, really, I could live with my current weight without much of a problem. It's the "invincible" feeling that I miss the most. Seriously, I felt so "hear me roar" that it pissed everyone around me off. I actually felt guilty for feeling so good! @Philmck, thank you. You won't be disappointed. I'm wrapping mine up and shipping it to my doctor as a Christmas gift. :)

There was recent study of the same diet on different people. What they found was that when the diet is customized to the individual they did better.

I don't doubt that one bit, CatHerder.
