it's too low dear.. U need atleast 1200kcal a day.. Eating very less is counter productive in the long run..

I cant exactly stuff my face just because. I am eating when i am hungry and it just so happens to be at about 900 cal. I am aware its a tad low so today imma try and add a few more things and hopefully go up above 1000 especially since i have been going to the gym and doing somewhat moderate of exercise on a daily basis. I guess i am too caught up in the weight loss and somewhat lost sight in my caloric intake.

There are suggestions about caloric intake, but you also have to consider how these suggestions have changed throughout the years. Just like any other health related advice, it up for interpretation. Instead of worrying about calories, concentrate on fresh veggies and lean fats. Fruit in moderation (it's easier to eat fruit because it tastes so much better than veggies). Schedule small protein and veggie snacks throughout the day to keep you filled and you'll be fine!

yeah when i do that i'm usually way lower than 900 cal lol so im doing my absolute best. I'm honestly not gonna count calories anymore and just healthy when i am hungry that way it'll be the same even when i do lose this weight. your right all this health stuff changes every year if not more often so i cant exactly go by that and just follow how i feel. i mean who counts to make sure they get their 2000 calories i sure as hell don't so why should i when i am trying to eat healthy it just doesn't make since. i think my body will tell me when i need to eat so that's it.

I used to believe that 1200 minimum was the absolute. I no longer believe it as gospel. I based my weigh loss plan on 1200 calories. Lost 60+ pound am now maintaining. I eat a mostly plant based diet lots of veggies, fruits, beans, whole grains, seeds, nuts, and a smattering of animal proteins, wine and beer now and then. My monthly average is around 1100 a day with many days below 900. I simply cannot eat anymore. I eat what I want to now and don't worry much about the calories, only the nutrition. I feel great, my doc says I'm doing amazing, except my sodium is low, add some salt.

wow thank you i really need to read that. Alot of people are nuts about the whole 1200 no less. I dont know i think i rather just go with what my body tells me and sometimes its only 800 cal which is nuts but thats all i wanna eat. thanks once again for making me feel sane.

If you look at my diet calendar you can see I eat and primarily really healthy whole foods. Several people on this site helped me get over my concerns. If I eat more than my body wants feel awful. I ended up drinking beer to get to 1200. Not what I want to do.

Best of luck getting there and maintaining. Maintaining is the thing. I actually started at 192. It doesn't reflect on FS. My fat secret weight was when I started seriously tracking here. You can do it! I've been on the yo-yo train several times in the past. Was looking to do slow and healthy, change my way of eating that had been influenced by others to what I feel good with. I live alone so that works for me.

You should eat 5-6 times a day! 3 important meals and 2 snacks!

Eating 5-6 times a day doesn't work for everyone, often due to work demands. Me 3 meals, if I go to the gym after work, I try to take a snack with me as my dinner will be late.

2 snacks like: 4-5 walnuts or 1 red apple, or 1 medium carrot or even 1 yogurt with chia seeds

I'm doing what you are doing except replacing a meal with a shake. I'm usually around the 800 cal per day number. I feel that Im ok with that and don't feel hungry.

Thats awesome guys thanks for your input. I forgot to mention that i work graveyard so sometimes it is very hard to get the food that i need or i eat all the wrong food cause i am at work and we have potluck almost everynight. I have looked into the whole replacing a meal with a shake but i just dont see how it will be satisfactory just because i am a huge snacker. Also they are so high in sugar i dont see that its all that healthy. I think i wanna try the HCG diet but with homeopathic drops so its not actual hormones. what do you guys think?

Graveyard is a hard shift. Potluck every night, I'd hate hauling all that food daily. Once a month is more than enough for me.. I'd opt out of the potluck and bring my own food, including healthy snacks.

Low cal is fine short term, especially if you're sedentary. If you work out at all though, its a good idea to keep your body fed. I lost my initial 40 pounds in 2013 (back when I was only worried about being thin, not muscular) on a 1500-1600 calorie diet while working out 5-7 days a week, Now I can do the same thing (and am) on a 2500 calorie diet. Your body eventually adjusts to your intake, so if you eat 800-900 cals per day for long term, that will become the norm for your body, so if/when you stop dieting you will tend to add 300-400 cals to your diet (being less restrictive) and this can lead to yo-yo dieting. So just be aware of that when you hit your goal weight, and bring your calories back up slowly so that your metabolism can adjust.

Thanks guy. Yeah i dont usually bring food to potluck except for every other week but they still all do and half my night we are at the nurses station and its all there. Some days i have the willpower and other day i just don't.
The VLCD is with the drops that are supposed to target your fat storage and aren't supposed to harm you. So I kinda wanted to give it a shot.

I agree with chad. My goal is 1250 to 1500 calories to fuel my workouts. My schedule is screwy too and it gets tough if you aren't prepared. I make up most of my food on the weekend and try to pack a bag whoever I leave of snacks that are good. If I go under 1200 my weight loss stalls and I feel like crap. If you are working graveyard frequently make sure you are still getting some sun. It can make a big difference.

Hm I never though about that I work graveyard full time the only time I'm outside is if I'm running errands or in college or it's summer time. I feel like I should be taking vitamins
