Happy Sunday!
I was up and at 'em bright and early at 4am. This is my last full day to prep for Christmas Eve, and I've been pretty lazy about it. I'm not in the mood this year for some reason.
We are hosting, and I've decided to do things a little differently this year. Instead of a large dinner, which leaves me cooking and cleaning most of the day, I'm cooking turkey and ham and having more of a sandwich and appetizer menu. This way, I can have some healthy choices like a veggie tray with hummus, etc. There will be desserts, also, for people who want sweets. I'm hoping this menu is a success!
Today will be cleaning and exercising. DH is hunting until Monday afternoon, so I should be able to get everything done and maybe even paint a little. :)
Have a great day!

Sounds like a great menu! I love anything simplified. Good luck!

Sounds like a plan!! I don't cook much for the main holiday day as my daughters want their kids home for Christmas. I go to 2 houses most years one Christmas eve the other for the day. I'll make rolls Christmas day, my sil loves them. We get all the kids together at my house usually new years weekend. 2 big pots of chilli, one pork r beef the other chicken, a big fruit salad, a tossed salad, and homemade rolls. Pretty laid back and reasonably healthy.

Thanks for the support! Several of my girlfriends have simplified for the holidays, also, and I've heard all good things :)
Happy Winter Solstice to you J. J.!
WFN, your plan sounds like lots of fun! I LOVE chili, even though mine is vegetarian :)

I'll cook new years day, since I'm off. I'd be more than happy with a veggie chili, not my family though. :))). For just me I leave out the meat.

FYI white chicken chili is terrific made with a combo of mayo-coba and broad beans instead of chicken. I like substituting meat with adzuki beans. I'm actually trying a german beef, onion and beer stew today with no meat but adzuki beans.

Thanks! I've never tried adzuki beans. Your stew sounds amazing. My hubby would love it! The vegetarian chili recipe I use has cauliflower, a lot of beans, and other chunky veggies. DH is a meat eater, but he loves that recipe. I need to make it more often

Had the wrong country sorry, it's Belgium. adzuki beans are sometimes labeled small red beans they have a little white spot. They taste quite meaty. Surprisingly the most consistent source I've found for them is Walmart.

Instantcrazy - I've added my recipe to my cook book, but it shows 'pending'. I put the ingredients in as close as possible, but I couldn't find some of the ingredient measurements I needed for ones measured in ounces.

I don't but will after I make sure it's good, an adaption that I hadn't tried before. Every now and then I try changing a meat dish to only veggies, they often need some playing with to get them good. It took too long to cook last night so will have it tonight for dinner.

My stew needs some tweaking yet. Tastes really good but more like a rich onion soup.
