Everyone ready to laugh and maybe just pee a little? I went to Smithers yesterday to do some Christmas shopping. There's this store there. You may have suspected that. Anyway. This store has a fudge counter. I'm staring at the counter - with lust in my eye I'm sure - and innocently overhear this conversation. (Honest.)

"Is this fudge good for an Atkin's diet?"

"All these fudges are - they're made with fructose instead of sugar so it goes into your bloodstream slower."

A blurt chortle escaped my lips, followed by an uncontrollable, near giggle (I don't giggle, I'm a guy). Then my whole body began to shake. There was an armless chair next to me. I dropped onto it. Tears began streaming from my eyes. Suddenly, gravity shifted and I found myself lying on the floor in hysterics incoherently gasping out the words "Atkin's diet fudge with fructose".

*Sigh* I don't think they're going to let me back into their store.

Giggling here - I'm a girl, we giggle. I've done that uncontrolled gasp a few times.. like the other day when some 20y.o. gal called a bag 'vintage' because it was used. To give her the benefit of the doubt, most everything is vintage at her age. I've been thinking of going atkins... the fudge is a selling point! Fudge, bacon & eggs.

Love it!!!! Now there is a stand sometimes at city market in the summer that has the amazing dark chocolate coated bacon!!! Can't imagine the calories, but as a rare treat, YUM!!

Let me at the Atkins fudge! This chocoholic can't find that anywhere! As my Granddad used to say, "What some people won't do" (to sell a few fudgers)! And then - you have to "fudge" your calorie intake!

I've got simple recipes for Low Carb Fudge. They have to be kept in the fridge, but that's okay. In there they are out of sight. Sometimes when I'm desperate, I just mix cream cheese, cocoa powder and sweetener. Not the best, but it will do in a pinch. I just made some LC Savannah Smiles cookies for my diabetic friends. I only ate one.. so far..

There are some good books out there. One is called 'Bacon Nation' and has 125 recipes. There's another out there for all you single ladies with 10 bacon desert recipes called "How to catch a man with bacon". I hope nobody is laughing. Confirmed bachelors could be in trouble from a woman armed with one of those.
