Deb_N's Journal, 25 November 2014

Hello, everyone! Thanks for your support and comments on my past journals and weigh ins. I have felt your love and support and that is why I have been able to make it this far on my weight loss journey. I really appreciate it.

My weight is going down again, but I don't know if I can say that later this week. ;) We are going out of town for Thanksgiving at my in-laws house. I am thankful that we get along great with my in-laws! They are cooking turkey, of course, but I heard that there will be pies. :gasp: This will take mighty strong will power to refuse pie. If they have just pumpkin pie, I only need to sample one small sliver, but if they have other kinds of pie, I would have to try all of them. Or just tell them that is too much sugar for me. They would believe me, because they know I have been losing weight for almost two years, but will I be able to say no to pies? That is the question! I am thinking that I can eat moderately on Thanksgiving and then after Thanksgiving go back to eating minimally. :) Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Yes you can, and yes you will not say no to pies! lol What I mean is, try to at least do a bit more exercise than you usually do and enjoy thanksgiving. Well, that's MY plan, but it will help me understand that it's better to not stress yourself and others about food for one day, and try harder the next day. Now I'm not saying GO ALL OUT, but have fun and be thankful for the strength and devotion you have, Deborah! I hope you can live your active life happily and continue to lose weight ^_^

Hi Deb :) I do think that moderation is key! I allow myself a treat each day. I also allow myself one blow meal a week. This helps me plan for things like holiday's, and still remain in control! :) HAPPY THANKSGIVING to you and your family!!! :)

Deb, you may find after that one sliver of pumpkin and maybe a sliver of another that's all the sweet you can handle. Hey, you are below goal, you can treat yourself to goodies, just do it mindfully and average it out over the week. Also be careful not to do it too often or your good habits may change.

Thanks, everyone! I've looked at everyone's weigh in and journal that I could find. I've said Happy Thanksgiving to lots of people and hope I didn't miss any of my buddies. The buddies I have who haven't weighed in or written a journal recently, I couldn't reply or support you. I hope everyone is well and all of you have a Happy Thanksgiving. Be good. Good luck! ♥

Happy Thanksgiving to you too Deb! My game plan for Thanksgiving is to do zig zag days. Higher calorie days, still under RDI, and then low calorie days. Low cal days the day before and the day after. Of course, I plan on portion control. My family, except me, isn't in to pies. There might not be any pies since I'm not going to cook one ): Plus, they are going to other Thanksgiving dinners in the evening, so they won't feel the need to have sweets for lunch. I haven't decided if that is a win yet. :) I really want Turkey! My tastes have changed too.

Dear friend, my issue isn't the pies -- they aren't a real temptation to me for some reason, but I just found out that my DS's GF is bringing gourmet cupcakes form NYC where she lives. Those are a huge trigger food for me! But I know in my case if I eat that one bite it won't be enough and will lead to those 100 bites that still aren't enough. So, my plan is to put them out of sight except when others are around and then push them like crazy on others to get rid of them as quickly as possible. DS & GF are here through the weekend, so come Mon morning, what's left goes into the office with DH! For my dessert, I'll have fresh fruit with whipped coconut cream. That's my plan & I know together we can get through in the way we think best for each of us! Happy Thanksgivng! xoxox

Happy Thanksgiving Deb. Good luck with your choices. I don't care for pumpkin pie, so that is not an issue for me. I do like pie, though!! So I have decided that even though I've been sugar-free for the past 10 weeks I will only eat something sweet if they have pecan or peach pie to offer. If not, no pie for me. I have a feeling that I may not eat too much of either pie, due to the sweetness factor. The other night I thought that I wanted some chocolate, so I made sugar-free chocolate pudding...1/2 spoon full was too much. I think that's a perk of changing my eating habits!! Calorie spike days are good??? Right!? You've done an incredible job at staying on track. I have no doubt that you will continue after Thanksgiving. Enjoy the time with your family!

Happy thanksgiving to you too! And yes, I am sure you can eat moderately and enjoy everything. And if not, no guilt, just regroup after the family celebration. I often tell myself, "i can't gain it all back in one day". that has helped me enjoy these times more and really, given your success, you probably have all the confidence in the world that you can manage a feast day. Enjoy!

Deb :) What good is there in all the struggles you have endured & overcome, if after losing all the weight, you feel you can't enjoy *1 day* out of the YEAR to eat,not in reckless abandon of all you've learned but in a way that makes it TRULY worth all your efforts to finally get to where you've fought so long & diligent to be? You can be truly thankful because you have shed the habits that led you to poor health & now have as your side-kick the ways that lead to the lifestyle you desire :) LIVE THAT LIFESTYLE!!!

Not just for tomorrow, but every day :)

Happy Thanksgiving Deb! I'm sure you will do wonderful tomorrow, even though you shouldn't stress over it. You are at your goal, so 1 day out of how many, isn't going to undo everything that you have accomplished.
