Just yesterday soaking up some sun...

Very sad day. Our Freckles got sick last night so took him in to vet today. Ran some tests/x-rays and turned out he had cancer in lungs. Nothing to do. Had to put him to sleep. He was 15 years old and had a good life. It was quick and he didn't suffer. Rough tho. Very hard. I sure didn't think about this moment when we got him as a puppy...

My husband is gone all week and will be back tonight. When I talked to him he said he sure didn't realize when he left it would be the last time he saw Freckles. It really brings home how fragile life is. You just never know. Hug and kiss your loved ones. Make sure they know they are loved. We're always so busy with life let's make sure to stop and appreciate the little things and what's REALLY important in life.

Freckles was a good boy and will be missed...

Oh, that's terrible. And yes, life is fragile Your post is very eloquent and touching. My Diego is turning 7 this year and I don't know what I would do if something were to happen to him now. Your pets are like family even if they aren't human. Hugs.
