Singhmandeep. Avoid stupid comments. You don't know what kind of diet this person is doing. Don't judge her/his food if you don't know his/her story.

Looks like the goal is to gain weight, and carbs like white rice can help.

Why avoid white rice? Why would it make you gain weight? Carbs are mot likely to be stored as fat, it's a path not often traveled in the body.

To answer your first question, Larm, no reason to avoid white rice if you're healthy, not fat, don't have heart disease or diabetes, and aren't insulin resistant. The second question and first sentence just illustrate a lack of research and understanding of how and why people get fat, heart disease and diabetes, and become insulin resistant.

I never do well eating rice, has the exact same affect on me like pasta. I lean towards the potato, yams and squashes that have the same texture.

White rice has no nutritional value, might as well drink an ice cold coke or some beer.
On occasion white rice is ok, as a pre or post work out to carb up or replace the glycogen in your muscles.
Cauliflower crumbles or a sweet potato or even a russet potato is much healthier.
But if you gotta have it limit yourself.
