Well, the heat index is over 100 degrees! We went to Target and my dear husband bought me a four DVD aerobic exercise/kickboxing (no laughing) set, new 3lb hand weights, and a new exercise ball which is great for crunches and back work while getting good support.

I am so impressed with him and his great way of helping me in this process! And, I got a very good workout that will continue to challenge me as I go up the levels. I also ordered three more Jillian Michaels DVDs which my friend said are "killer" - so I have plenty of work to do and can use this mode for exercise for a long time to come!

Be careful with Jillian Michaels. Don't let her intimidate you. I keep the 20 minute workout at Level 1 to avoid injury. The other levels contain lots of planks, lunges, squats, & twists. We have one of thos exercise balls in our garage. My 25-year-old son bought it when he lived with us for a short time after college. He says he does not have room for it in his small place. So my husband is thinking about "accidentally" piercing it so that it deflates. Also - have you tried toning bands? You can buy them in any Target or Wal-Mart. I like them MUCH better than the free weight dumbells. I use mine every day. My favorite toning band DVD is "10 Minute Solutions - Slim & Sculpt Pilates" by Suzanne Bowen. Oh yes, I have used toning bands - and will likely buy some on the next Target trip. I know Jillian Michaels has an "attitude" - I just modify the moves for myself and avoid what I cannot manage because I do not want to injure myself. I suppose when I lose 50 more pounds, I may be more able to complete...but really don't care right now - I just want to keep it moving, sweating, and burning calories!

You have the right idea....modification is key! That's what we do at my gym. 4 of us can be doing the same thing, but in 4 different ways that suit each of us, but is still effective. Don't force yourself just to get an injury. Hope you enjoy the new workouts!

I bought 30 day shred and killed myself on level one! I really thought it would be good for the days I can't get to the gym. Unfortunately like a lot of things at home I never do it because I look at the laundry, kids, dishes, etc and I feel guilty and do those things instead. Bless that you have the discipline at home!

DairyKing is so funny! Well? Have you tried Jillian yet? Wait a minute. You ordered the DVD - didn't you. It might take a while to arrive via mail. I am too impatient.

I am using a different set that has cardio, cardio kickbox moves, bootcamp, and the stability ball workout. I like them. The Jillian DVDs will arrive next week...I got one called "Beginnner Front and Beginner Back" - refers to the muscle groups. We actually will see how "beginner" they will play !
