Fatboy199's Journal, 20 April 2018

Good morning my brothers and sisters of the The Scale...

Just a few observations from my first month on my journey to lose over 100lbs.
1. Patience is so important.
2. Learning true discipline is an art.
3. Being motivated to lose weight helps actually helps motivation in other areas of one's life too.
4. Eating at least for me was a drug.
5. Being hungry and being bored are very different..I spent 45 years confusing the two.
6. Portion size is far more important than I ever imagined.
7. Calories are the whole ballgame.

This losing weight thing is easy, all you do is eat less calories than you are able to burn!
The hard part is life and all the coping and BS that accompanies it. My greatest challenge is getting better at life and fitting eating into it!
I am sure that none of us wants to be who we presently are body-wise, so as I say to myself, I say to you...be brave enough to be different, The new you will be a gift.

Let's roll...

Your observations are spot on and food is just like a drug to me too. We have to challenge ourselves to do better for our own best life.

I love reading about all the different ways people learn their bodies the first month or two of dieting. My big thing was confusing thirst for hunger. I've gone vegan and my portions are huge usually, so its all been about how to season and substitute things to fulfill cravings for me. Thanks for sharing your journey!

Amen bruddah! For me I would change 7 to "Learning what are good calories for my plan/bod is the whole game". Let roll indeed!

Nice comments. I appreciate hearing every one of them. I've been down this road before and lost 65 pounds. In the past three years I've gained that back plus. My first goal is to lose 25 lbs. That's for my GI doc. The next part of the journey I'll worry about when I get there. I found out long ago, you don't have to set your goal so high it's too frustrating getting there. I set one. After that, another. First day here. Just keeping track of what I've eaten today and keep going. I really appreciate that there are so many knowledgeable people on here and supporting each other is key for me.
