onmywayjen's Journal, 21 June 2012

I had RNY Gastric Bypass on June 6, 2012. My starting weight was 297 (or 301) depending on my scale or the Dr. scale. In anycase, when I left the hospital I was at 294 and today, 15 days later I am down to 263. I am so happy I had the surgery, although at first I thought "what the heck did I do?" but as time has gone on, the pains have subsided and my life is slowly coming back. I am able to walk further than I have in a VERY LONG TIME. My kids are cheering me on, walking with me and telling me how proud they are of me. My husband is wanting to be more close to me (he has always been affectionate, but now, he is just different...in a great way). I have been overweight all of my life and can say for once I am proud of myself. I do not see this as "a quick way out" but a life changing event that takes more hard work and dedication than anything I've ever done in my life. Remembering to take my vitamins, supplements, protein...not easy, but I know I have to in order to stay healthy. Would I recommend it, even being 2 weeks out? ABSOLUTELY!
