DairyKing's Journal, 20 June 2012

Here I sit at my desk, having just finished backing up my laptop. The email said, "When the backup is finished, you will se a pop-up that says, "Backup Finished." Interesting, the "Backup in Progress" window went away about a half-hour ago, and no 'finished' pop-up. The email didn't say what to do if you didn't get the pop-up. Just said my PC would not be ordered if I didn't perform the backup immediately. So, here's the question, "Did the backup complete, and automatically set the process in motion to get my new laptop ordered, or was there a glitch that put everything in limbo?" Buzzer sounding; time's up! Got to love programmers. I always said, "If you want to find holes in your software, just let me try it out." If there's a bug, it will happen to me. So, I'll call the Help desk, be told that all our operators are busy, and that I am #1,543,257th in the cue, and an operator will be with me as soon as they have handled the other callers. Then they will probably tell me something like, "You must have missed the pop-up window because you were sleeping or something; that's why they call it a 'pop-up'. But I was sleeping with one eye open; they can't fool me. :)

I'm starting to blossom out again. I'm still in my belt's last notch, but my buttons are in danger of becoming missle hazards. I'm going to have to quit this cycle. If I go two or three days without running, I get lazy. If I get lazy, I start to eat more. If I start to eat more, I sleep more. If I sleep more, I don't get to run in the morning. If I don't go running in the morning, I get lazy . . . Wait, I already said that! So, today was pizza day in the cafeteria. Because pizza is my nemesis, I used to eat the lunch I brought, and still go get a slice or two from the cafeteria on Wednesdays. Well, not today. The cafeteria is almost closed, and I did not go get pizza. Oh wait, I'll be right back. Just kidding. DW made me a meatloaf sandwich, some sliced up green peppers and radishes, fresh cherries, and had my lunch all ready to go this morning. Bless her little heart; I wonder what she's up to. :) So far, so good.

Got out the tractor last night, and cleared off the 26 X 31 foot playground area. Found 8 more concrete pillars that I have to take out with the backhoe. These concrete pillars are about the size of a 35 gallon drum - each. Who would have thought that I would have begun preparing the ground for a playground in the very same, exact spot that they had previously had the school swingsets? Back in 1910, they spared no expense when it came to concrete. Can you imagine a concrete anchor, the size of a 35 gallon drum, anchoring a mere 2 inch post for a swingset? Well, I don't have to imagine it; I'm living it. Talk about overkill! Oh well; I'm going to put them to good use; I'm going to set them out, paint them yellow, and string chains between them to keep cars from being parked where I don't want them parked.

Enough of this small talk. I have to get back to filling up this hard drive again! Toodles!

way to pass up the pizza! You can use your new playground to do boot camp style workouts on it!

Sounds like a busy day! I totally agree that my body is starting to NEED the regular exercise, or else I feel lazy/sluggish. It is so surprising how things are changing!

Pizza is my nemesis, as well. We have a long track-record together. I am so glad DW made you a dynamite sandwich and you resisted the urge to splurge on pizza. Good for you! Heh, once the playground is done, will you please post a picture of it? Take care!

Wow! That's some heavy duty concrete! I guess the contractors did not want the swing set brackets to pull up from the ground. They were there forever! Looking forward to your reports about your running routine -- as long as the temperatures are not too high.
