I have not been doing very well losing weight! In fact, I have gained weight! My doctor checked my blood work and said everything is fine as far as that is concerned. As of last night, I was a bit discouraged but at the same time very motivated to change it. I saw a saying that said "Your desire to change must be greater than your desire to stay the same" So last night I has meat and broccoli. Today, I am having cucumbers and grilled chicken! I am debating joining wight watchers mainly because of the accountability. However that gets expensive! Would love for someone here to help in that area and help me get and stay on the right track!
234.0 lb Lost so far: 0 lb.    Still to go: 94.0 lb.    Diet followed poorly.

Hey, we are here for you! There is a challenge section on the site that can be very motivating. Also, I find a tangible goal to work for key. Is there an event in the future that you want to be a certain weight for? I go camping with friends every year and there is a pool, the last 4 years, I had to keep getting board shorts and tummy covering bathing suits because I didn't want to swim otherwise. My goal this year was to be able to wear any bathing suit I wanted. So I hung up my favorite suit and looked at it every morning. It motivated me to eat right and get the toning/cardio in. A motivating picture on your fridge can help too. I will be following and holding you accountable, you got this!

Oh please don't give up. It's normal to feel discouraged, but turn those feelings into determination. Peasy3's advice is really good. I'm going to use it. I've been gaining some too. I recently made some changes and my body is still adjusting, I hope. Figuring out what works for you takes time and patience. Listen to your body, I know, sounds simple or silly, but it's something we aren't always use to doing. The fact that you want to do better, means you will! You can do this. 😊

I am looking at it different now, I ask ''what can I eat'' not always thinking of alkyl the things I can't eat. I'm trying to eat real food and portion control. Find what works for you, we are all different. Don't give up!

if you have a YMCA near you talk with them about becoming a participant in the Diabetes prevention program you do not have to be a current diabetic and your health insurance may cover the cost. weekly meetings to start and at our Y you get a membership to the Y during the initial program

I think you are on the right track. Most people have better success sticking with meat and non starchy vegetables. Eventually, if you keep your carbs really low, you will lose those awful carb cravings and it will get much easier. Try it for a couple of weeks and then decide for yourself. I don't like WW because it only focuses on calories and that only works for awhile and you are usually starving the whole time.

You can do this!

As Gingerk65 said, you can get lots of support here, just post regularly and you will get encouragement, tips and sometimes a gentle needed nudge! (LOL) And if you feel we are getting a little "too helpful," tell us to back off -- but recognize that we care or we wouldn't post! Hang in there, progress is slow and steady, not all at once.

At what time are you eating? That can play havoc on the morning scale. Also, are you hitting the scale at a consistent time? That too, can have dramatic effect. A good diet is all about discipline and consistency.

lots of great info here...all for free. my tricks are, measure and record everything that goes in my mouth, NO BREAD, NO PASTA, NO POTATOES, NO SUGAR, while I'm trying to lose. I eat meat, and veggies cooked and raw. I never eat after 6 pm, I get 7-8 hours of sleep, I drink enough water. I've lost 16 lbs since Jan. 5th. and a lot of inches. By losing slow my skin is not sagging too much. don't give up.

Hey girl! Go read up on keto lifestyle and see if that intrigues you. I've actually been enjoying it. My husband, who hates change, has joined me and he's even doing well on it. Which is saying something, he *really* loved soda and carbs. Lol It works.

Cutting calories might be a double-edged sword. When you cut calories, your body’s response is usually to decrease of the number of enzymes in the body that burn fat and increase the number of enzymes that store fat. The body begins altering hormone output and slowing you metabolic rate so you can survive with the reduced fuel level. I’m not an expert on losing weight as I’m more thin/athletic, but I would personally try balancing my macronutrients, maintaining a “maintenance” calorie intake (through healthy eating and not following any specific short-term diet) and increasing the intensity/duration/type of the workout to burn more calories and speed up your metabolic rate. Also, beware that sometimes you might gain some pounds during the first weeks of a new diet, as the body needs to get used to it. Hope this helps!

You only change when the pain of staying the same is greater than the pain of change, and this is true for nearly every area of our lives, especially with addictions.

Can't help you if you're not logging your food. Doing that keeps you on track and shows commitment. Are you committed?

pretty sure that 5lb gain is only water weight. don’t sweat it... unless you sweat out the water then that’s ok lol
