Take a look at your "lost so far". Don't be sad!! As far as the cholesterol though, I don't know enough to offer advice. Maybe that's one of those things that lags behind your improved diet & exercise and will catch up eventually??

I think I am going to give it another 6 months. No more red meat for me. :-(

don't the commericals say half of your cholesterol level is determined by genetics? and i do know that working out is about the only thing that can bring your HDL up.

It is genetics for me. But I am already on two other Rx's for life. I just dont want to add a third before I'm 40. At this rate, I will be taking far too many pills in my 60's. I got my tubes tied to be Rx free, drug free when I was 30. Then at 36, I feel apart-ish. I guess I am just depressed at the thought of another RX. I HATE them! My Mom had crazy cholesterol but avoided the pill to alomst 70. I guess I was hoping for the same level of avoidence.

I found out my cholesterol was bad a few years ago when I turned 30. I raised my hdl from 23 to 49 in a few months. I haven't had bad choesterol since. I found out that getting the mojority of your fat intake from "good" fat (monounsaturated) is the best way to help with cholesterol. Found that out on Dr. Oz actually. He said that eating good fat was soothing to your body and heart and that bad fat is aggravating. I switched to eating alot of avacados, almonds, olive oil, olives, and all natural peanut butter-make sure the only ingredients are peanuts/salt. Some peanut butter says all natural but has added palm oil which is considered "aggravating" fat. Doesn't hurt to try.

Thanks paulanater. I told my doc no. I am going to try a few things and do some research. We shall see how it goes.

Good for you! Good luck! If its ok for you to be taking a fish oil supplement, I recommend taking a one thats just Omega 3! (the "good" fat I was talking about)

I already put it on my list. LOL and I am going to try to use cinnamon more too.

John just had to give up fish oil because despite early favorable studies, it has been shown to increase the risk of aggressive prostate cancer. Do you want some bottles. Be careful though, it is a blood thinner so you need to watch out for excessive bruising. John had no problems, but others have complained.

If you have it, and don't want it....I am game. I will watch the brusing. Not the greatest thing for the clutzy! You get my email about sugar grams?

Sorry to hear that-- I just did a physical with blood draws and found my cholesteral down closer to the normal range compared to 4 years ago when it was elevated, and I was similarly worried that they'd recommend meds (my dad takes them) since I had the bad test before. Wishing you the best!!

Yes, I got your email about sugar grams. Sorry, I should have sent a "thanks" so you knew I got it. I will snag the pills today. Hopefully, he didn't throw them away already because we discussed that the donation places won't take pills of any kind. If we still have them, I will bring them on Tuesday.
