So a good start for my day. A great workout with adding upper body to it and it felt so very good. After the weight machines: no free weights at this point as I feel more comfortable with the control of the machines with my neck. 6 laps of the pool alternating breast and side stroke. The crawl hurts horribly so not doing that yet. Relax and stretching in the steam room and then into the whirlpool. The slight increase in gym cost is worth it for the extras.

Then shopping for a new frig. I think I finally found one at Lowes that will fit my space. I need to check out ratings on it and see if anywhere else has it for less. My frig space is a couple inches shorter than most current ones so have had trouble finding one, I really don't want to tear out the over frig cabinet.

Took an asthma drug break for a few as the tree pollen is very high. Back to weekend chores and then to clean out the frig and freezer (the big goal for the day).

good for you.....sounds like your workout went great....what gym do you go to? am having a hard time finding one here that meets my particular needs.....had one but they were taken over by a hospital....things changed.....I am no longer able to swim at all, but I could do water walking and some exercises in the water....just hard trying to find a place....sounds like you have the same problem I do with fridge......also have the small cabinets above which limits the size fridge I can have.....God bless these older homes...have a great weekend :-)

Kathryn, the frig I found has awful reviews so will continue my search, may cost me a bit more but need one that is going to work and keep working. I recently switched to Genesis from Planet Fitness, since they have a pool. There isn't another gym locally with a pool. Well back to cleaning out my current frig.

WFN - I don't understand why you would take an asthma drug break when the tree pollen is high. Surely the tree pollen is more likely to trigger as asthma attack so you would need the drug more? I'm confused 🙂

SO glad you are doing more and feeling better.

Had to take the drug and it works better if you take a quiet break and let it work for a few minutes with some nice slow breathing. It's an inhaled drug so it goes to work pretty quickly.

I have, what is supposed to be a daily inhaler for asthma, but I only take it four days a week or I get cramp in my toes!

It has finally quit snowing .....ground is covered.....looks like there is more on the roofs than on the ground.....thank you for the info on gym....don't have a genesis here....do have planet fitness but they don't have a pool and that comes about as close as anything I could do.....hope you find your new fridge soon....keep me posted so I have a reference when I need one....have a happy Sunday:-)

Doobrie, odd about the cramp in your toes. You should let your doc know. I'm on a preventative inhaler twice a day and a rescue one PRN. Would love not to take it at all but I rather like breathing. One side affect of the steroid is that it makes my arms bruise super easily and they are odd looking ugly red/purple spots that look different than regular bruises. I try to avoid the rescue one with natural options as much as possible.

I have discussed the cramp with the doctor, WFN. They said it's the steroid in the preventative inhaler. I am on the smallest dose they can give me. I think I'm just very sensitive to medications, which is why I don't like taking them. I'm experimenting with the four days a week at the moment, but might have to go back to five. If I drink 250ml of pure coconut water (no added sugar) every day, it really helps the cramp because of the potassium but I often forget to drink it! I already eat a banana nearly every day. I have a rescue inhaler but I've only ever needed it twice I think. My asthma is very mild. If I don't take my preventative inhaler for several days (I've tried), I end up coughing with wheezy sounds. I never really get breathless. Sounds like yours is quite bad 🙁

Kathryn, I belonged to PF for many years and really liked it, though the people who went there were not very friendly rarely did anyone talk to each other. Probably just the clients there. If you are looking for group classes the only ones they have are really to show you how to use the machines. It's cheap and you can take advantage of free sessions with a trainer to help you plan what would be good for you. I found the couple sessions helpful but that one needs to direct them some to what you want. Much of my plan was self directed with doing the research on proper form etc on various machines and free weights. I found watching people helpful, though then checked out what proper form should be. My schedule didn't mesh well with available time for trainer sessions. I'm liking the new gym a lot. People are generally friendly and helpful which for me makes it more enjoyable. I've missed swimming terribly and I used to love just doing laps, I'll be happy when my neck will let me do a standard crawl again. If I could afford a backyard pool it would probably be one of those small endless pools where you can just swim. LOL a gym is cheaper and no upkeep. Genesis bought this 24 hour fitness gym sometime in the past year and they have been slowly upgrading it as it had gone downhill from what people are telling me.

WFN just a thought, have you looked at Sears? Sometimes Kenmore has things that others don’t. 🤷🏻‍♀️ @Doobrie watermelon actually has more potassium than bananas if I’m remembering correctly. (I wanted an excuse to eat watermelon!) LOL 😆 💁🏻‍♀️

Doobrie, I think most all of the preventatives and rescue inhalers are a type of steroid. You might also try taking magnesium as that combined with the potassium and vitamin C all help with muscle cramps. The asthma has gotten worse as I've gotten older. I try to keep the dang asthma pretty controlled with environment and foods. The environment is the difficult one--I'm super sensitive to chemical scents, most perfumes, molds, tree pollen, cigarette smoke and chemical additives in foods.

What she said! Yep. My asthma hasn’t kicked up in years and I pray it doesn’t since all of the inhalers I tried gave me blinding migraines. That literally took my sight away.🤷🏻‍♀️

SMprowett Sears were all to tall unless they had really small capacity, was there yesterday. Hope for you the asthma doesn't re-appear. That sounds awful. I hate taking the drugs but I'm in trouble if I don't.

I take magnesium, WFN, along with other supplements, including vitamins. Sondra - no, watermelon has less potassium than bananas. The coconut water has lots and is very low calorie. I've brought a few cartons - now I just need to remember to drink it. I'!ll take my supplements with it - that should help.

Too bad on the watermelon. 🙇🏻‍♀️ It tastes better. LOL I guess it’s coconut water then! LOL 🤷🏻‍♀️

Lol, Sondra! Guess you're not keen on bananas then? I love them 😋

My morning starts with a smoothie of a small banana, often another fruit, kale, a TBS of nutritional yeast (high in B's), 2 TBS of flax seed (omega 3's for the day) and some sort of milk. The milk varies. I love ice cold coconut water on really hot days, though rarely have it. I should keep it around this summer. Watermelon is yummy also. I like the small ones as the big ones much ends up wasted or getting frozen unless the kids are here.

I like bananas, I eat them in every smoothie I make. I just REALLY like watermelon! LOL! I love your smoothie idea WFN except for the kale. I can never get it to blend well enough into the rest! LOL So I always feel like I have spinach leftovers or something on my teeth. LOL 😂 I add nutritional yeast to all mine as well. Those B vitamins!🙋🏻
