Honestly I haven't a clue. I started out thinking that using good old common sense was the key to losing weight i.e. low or no carbs. Trace fat only. High protein with lots of fruit and veg for vitamins and minerals. So, in two weeks I lose about 6lbs but then I started to feel so ill and it was as if my body was shutting down. I hurt just about everywhere and was tired beyond belief. Over one weekend I slept through for 22 hours and got up for a few hours before sleeping for a further 19 hours. My dog thought I had emigrated. I felt a good bit better then - well enough to turn on the computer and after a little searching I discovered that I had been going through, what seems to be referred to as the 'Keto flu' as my body adjusted to all the nutritional changes and began to figure out how to turn protein into energy instead of the quick carb fixes it was used to. I don't know. Every time I look up anything to do with weight loss online I am seeing something different about what is the right thing to do. Don't count calories. Always count calories. No carbs at all. Some carbs for sure. BMI. BMR. Fat bombs for the 'keto kids'. Avoid all fats. Protein overload. Fuck me. I was eating so much of everything it just seemed logical that if i cut back on everything I would lose weight, right? No, evidently I need a degree in rocket science or other appropriate subject in order to understand how the body's metabolic 'behaviour' is in charge of everything and you can't just whack it into a totally different eating regime without expecting a bit of fallout. You know, my Dad, God rest him, was 24 stone weight when he was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and with the help of my amazing mother he came down to about 10 stone without EVER LOOKING AT A COMPUTER. He was given a tiny little book from his doctor that had a few basic recipes and tips and that is what they worked with together. My point is that I feel like going back to the start with the ethos of keeping it simple and logical because too much information does not always help. I am also finding it difficult to prepare meals for myself because as I am alone or with my 11 year old daughter at meal times. I have always been lazy about cooking unless Chang is around. Fixing a dinner for myself in the evening feels like such a chore when I am tired and hungry and on my own. Still, on the positive side, my weight is not going up and I am not giving up so, onwards and downwards!!
258.1 lb Lost so far: 7.4 lb.    Still to go: 125.8 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.
