It's been a little over a year since a 4 night stay in the hospital that changed/saved my life:
2/17 (A1C) = 11.8! 5/17 (A1C) = 8.5 8/17 (A1C) = 5.7 11/17 (A1C) = 5.7 3/18 (A1C) = 5.4!
Weight loss almost 60lbs
My doctor's are thrilled, my family is thrilled and so am I!

Wow. That is awesome. I know I went from 8. something, to a current 5.3 Lost 67 lbs in the process. Kicking the sugar and carbs really helps. No more high blood pressure meds, anti depressants and no diabetic pills. Keep up the good work. A new way of eating becomes second nature and we no longer crave the foods that are not good for us.

So proud of you, sometimes it takes something drastic to make us wake up.

Wonderful!
I lost 25 lbs and moved my A1c from 5.7 in July to 5.6 in December - hoping for a further drop at next test.

Thanks everyone...as a couple of you have mentioned a new way of eating just becomes second nature...in the year+ since my diagnoses I can honestly say I've never gone to bed hungry. It's just eating different. The best thing one of my doctor's told me was that in all her years treating diabetes she had never seen someone reduce their A1C in 6 months so much without insulin :)

New studies are showing the keto diet works great for T2D, but reducing or eliminating meds should be done under doctor supervision.
I like keto because I feel satiated with lower calories, and I like meats.
