For potassium, try eating avocados. They have more potassium than bananas and you can eat them on a LCHF diet. Drinking pickle juice helps. Also drinking a lemon juice with sea salt in water a couple of times a day can help with other electrolytes (2 tbsp of lemon juice, 1/4 tsp of sea salt and 8 oz water).

Sorry, I just realized that you aren't on a LCHF diet. When you said Ketosis, I assumed that you were. Still, avocados are better for you than bananas.

Your response is still correct Ravyne everyone successfully losing weight goes into ketosis!

I add himalayan pink salt (just a dash!) to a bottle of water in the summer. It helps keep the electrolytes in check. If you need more potassium, then Yams have 3× the amount that bananas do. Or maybe you could take a multivitamin in the evenings, they absorb more thoroughly

What causes the headache? I had so much energy which was great, but then it was like a crash soon after I felt fatigued had an awful headache, and shakey, felt cery dizzy. I eat some apple slices and a low fat chocolate fruit dip and lemon in my water and started feeling better. I'm migraine prone anyway. I love the energy that comes with ketosis, but always the crash. How do i avoid it?

What exactly is Himalayan pink salt? What makes it different?

You know how table salt will say 'with iodine '? Most salt has been stripped of it's mineral value during processing so they add some back in after. Himalayan salt is a mined salt that's un-bleach or refined, with 84! naturally occurring minerals. The minerals help balance they body's electrolytes, and the salt replaces the sodium we lose when we sweat or use the bathroom.

I get a headache when first starting a keto diet - it occurs when I'm switching over from glucose-burning to fat-burning mode. If you're dehydrated that will also give you a headache. Salt will help - doesn't HAVE to be Himalayan - but sea salt is easy to find. Seek out potassium and magnesium-containing foods that are keto-friendly. Nuts and green leafy veggies are magnesium sources. Do an online search on "potassium" and see what veggies come up so you can choose low-carb ones. I personally keep a combination potassium + magnesium supplement on hand to take if I start getting leg cramps.

Ty everyone. Everyone keeps suggesting avocado, but I don't like them lol. I'll pick up a supplement tomorrow when my hubby gets paid.

Research your supplement, maybe someone could reccommend one they are not created equal and some have hidden sugars carbs ect!

@8Patty - so true! Mine is Country Life Magnesium Potassium Aspartate, gluten-free. I got it at Whole Foods and probably this brand and type would only be found in health food stores.

Online - like Amazon - might be a good place to get quality vitamins too.
