I started two months ago at 261.lbs I have lost 18 pounds so far. My Doctor has me on a 1200 calorie daily diet. I have had some rough days and even a few over but I am trying not to get discouraged. I work out 3 times a week at the YMCA. Cycling is my exercise of choice.

Great loss. I always struggled with calorie restriction. I don't have the willpower. One of these days I need to get serious about working out too. I guess I'm just a hot mess. :P

1200 calories a day plus walking did it for me. Lost 50 pounds in 4 months.

Dryphtr, that's just as well, since calorie restriction is so harmful to our metabolism. Since eating tons of good fats I am experiencing a first for me, I actually have energy to work out now!

@ion dunk me too! I used to hit the snooze alarm and go back to sleep- now I wake up every day & do Yoga for 30 minuets & love it - then I do Yoga in the evenings 3 x a week for 1 - 1.5 hours - I finally have the energy

I read cycling as crying at first and I was so sad for you, but then I re-read it and realized I'm an idiot! Lol. welcome to the group!! I try to keep my calories around 1200 but there are days I go grossly over. never over 2000 though so I am proud of that.

girl, do it slow and it will stay off. i have lost 15 since 01/01. I had to change my diet due to gastric issues. this helps me count calories/nutrients. It helps me. keep track and make sure I am getting the calories I need.

Haha, at first read I thought you'd said "crying" is your exercise of choice!!! Glad to see it's something more uplifting! :) Sounds like you're doing great. Keep it up -- you'll forget all about the hard days as the losses add up!

i also did 1200 calories a day plus 1 hour of walking 5 days a week to lose 45 pounds in 4 months. u can do it ! the best thing was my stomach organ shrunk so now i feel fuller quicker than i did when i was overweight. so now i just listen to when my stomach says its full and i stop eating. i have kept the weight off for 2 years and dont have to count calories anymore, i just listen to my stomach.
