Confession time.... I am a vampire.... no.. 3rd shift worker. Hours are opposite of most human life. Which is fine, I really don't care for most humans. I am too lazy to cook...so...eggs. My clients stock all manner of junk food to entice the elderly to eat anything...something... because they are wasting away. So sticking to my guns on this is hard. I am too fat for my clothes and the sad thing is I have already lost this weight. I let a bump in the road throw me out of phase and out of attention. I WILL NOT BUY BIGGER CLOTHES. On the up side I have been talking to mom about my way of eating( since I am now her basement dweller and only child) she has decided to try this eating style in hopes of getting off of Lasix and reducing the swelling she has in her feet. (Relax I'm an RRT so I will keep a close eye on her.) I will get to go home on Wednesday afternoon so i can see what the scale says. I expect to see change I have been very good.

As an RN for 35 years and dedicated night shift worker, I know how hard it is to maintain a healthy diet. What I did was on my day off I would shop and prepare 2 meals per day for my next rotation. 1 to eat before work and 1 for lunch break. Each had lean protein, veggies and a few carbs for energy. I always packed some healthy snacks. These really keep you from temptation. I kept my weight down for a long time doing this but after I was forced to retire due to medical issues I gained over 100 lbs in2 years. So now I am trying to get back on track and find a schedule that works for me as I am still a night owl Best wishes for you and your Mom

That's great that you'll have your mom to do this alongside of. Good luck to you both!

Just read your profile comment and got a chuckle. I think I am more of a Morticia and Gomez type of gal myself but never really thought of it before. I find when I'm in fat-burning mode all that junk food looks like plastic models of food (and I encourage that thought) and not attractive at all. Maybe you could test that notion, given your work environment.
