MEMORIAL DAY...
My dad served in the military (Army for 2 years, then Air Force for for the remainder of his career) for 20 years. He fought in Korea, we were in Turkey during the Bay of Pigs, traveled to Germany and spent 3 years there during the late 60's, and he retired in 1972. I am proud to be his daughter and will be forever thankful to him for the service he gave his country. It was not always the easiest thing to do, especially during the 50's and 60's. It was a very unstable and turbulent time, but he never failed to serve and serve proudly. Thank you Dad, and all others who serve this country and preserve our freedoms.
Yesterday was spent with the boys and their wives. We swam, we bbq'd, we ate, we drank (well, they did, I had one margarita), we laughed, we looked at the garden, we watched the butterflies swarm, we listened to some music, and we played some Yahtzee and some Rummy. We had a wonderful and memorable day. The food choices were all low carb, and that was fine with the kiddos. BBQ meat, with low carb, homemade sauce (pork chops, brats, and hamburgers), deviled eggs, bacon wrapped jalapeno poppers, salad, faux rice with broccoli casserole, pickled beets, salad with homemade ranch, and a chocolate orange low carb pudding pie for dessert. I also made corn on the cob for the younger crowd. We have LOTS of leftovers for the coming week! My youngest developed a migraine and had to leave around 10. Talked to him this morning and although the headache persisted most of the night, it is gone this morning, and he feels better. Thank goodness. I felt so sorry for him, he just wanted to stay and hang with his brother, SIL, and us, but just couldn't take the pain anymore. We all got to bed around 2:30. I got up this morning, started the cleanup of the mess, and then made omelets, bacon, toast, coffee, and Crystal Light orange energy for breakfast...or should I say lunch! lol
Steps were low yesterday, but I did get an hours worth of exercise in the pool. I will get back on track with my walking either today or tomorrow, depending on what time the kids go home. I don't want to spend any of the time they are here out walking. Food wise, I was right on my RDI yesterday, with about 1750 calories, but the carbs were right on target, so that's a good thing.
Well, that's about all the news that's fit to print from my corner, hope all is well in your's!
TTFN!!

Pam, the kids are so great about eating the foods we eat. As a matter of fact they really like it, so it's easy to stay on track. We had a great time with them this weekend!

My dad served in late WW2, but ended his run with that. I'm also proud to have numerous uncles, cousins and a newphew who served in WW2, Korea, Viet Nam, and now Afghanistan and Kuwait. While some are no longer with us, we thank them all for their service and sacrifice! Have a great week!!

Sazy, I have the greatest family. Our sons are such wonderful young men, and I am so proud of them. The only thing that I hate is that we can't all live right next to each other! lol Don't think the boys would like that very much! As for the food control, they all come here, we do the cooking, so it's pretty easy. They eat what we eat. If they want something that isn't part of our lifestyle change they bring it, get it, or make it, and that's fine. Much love back to you and yours Sazy! xxx HUGS!

Zippy, my FIL served as a sniper/scout in the Pacific theater in WWII. He was a marine, but got out after WWII. I have a lot of family members who are or have been in the military, and I am proud of, and thankful to them all! You have a wonderful week as well!
