Did an N=1 experiment today.
All week I've noticed that my fasting BG was always over 100 (I'm not diabetic). After thinking about what was different, I had started taking some supplements that my Dr recommended. 2 in particular smell and taste super sweet, and need to be taken on an empty stomach, one for the gut and a B complex. I had been checking my BG after taking the supplements because I take them at home and usually check my BG at work. So this morning I checked my BG and ketones before, then 45 mins after taking the supplements and then again 2 hrs later.

Before supplements
BG=87 & K=0.4

45 mins after supplements
BG=104 & K=0.2

2 hrs after supplements
BG=88 & K=0.4

The good thing is that they come back down pretty close to where they were before but the fact that these supplements impact BG so much is a bit disconcerting. The one for the gut is a scoop in a glass of water and the B complex is a teaspoon under the tongue.

While I was eating my lunch, which was the first meal of the day I wondered about the difference in impact of my lunch vs the supplement. I did not measure immediately before lunch, since I had nothing in between the last reading for the supplements and lunch I expect it to be fairly similar, but who knows, I didn't think about testing until after I started eating.

45 mins after lunch
BG= 109 & K=0.2

2 hrs after lunch
BG= 90 & K=0.3

Lunch included baked chicken wings marinaded in coconut aminos and lime, and a little sugar-free BBQ sauce. With 270 g mashed cauliflower, with a little bacon fat and a slice of vegan cheese. Nutritional data in the range of carbs 18 g, fat 114 & protein 130. Not scientific but very interesting. Such a small quantity of the supplements has similar effects to eating an entire meal and I felt very full after eating. I understand trying to make the supplements palatable but that is just too much. The B complex ingredients include apple and strawberry juice concentrate along with stevia.The gut one includes raspberry, pineapple, beet and strawberry powder, with stevia.

This little experiment is not close to what I've done before testing 1-3 months everyday daily but interesting none the less. I at least hope these supplements work. Over the next couple days I want to check each supplement separately and see what the results look like.
